PREMIER LEAGUE: We preview Monday’s Premier League game between EVERTON v WATFORD with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

EVERTON V WATFORD

8pm Marco Silva takes on his former club on Monday Night Football this week as Everton host Watford. Everton will be looking forward to this fixture as they have won 11 of their last 12 home games against Watford in all competitions – quite a stat for two clubs that aren’t that far away from each other – only three points separates them in the table this season.

Everton are odds on favourites with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Everton 1.78, Watford 5.5 and the draw is 3.9. Watford arrive into Goodison Park in poor without a win in their last five; although they have had to play Manchester City and Liverpool in those fixtures. More worrying would be their losses to Newcastle and Leicester, and they also failed to beat Southampton who sit in 19th position in the table.

Watford started the season superbly however their form has gone backwards since and it’s hard to see them winning this fixture. Everton have been playing some solid football lately and were unlucky to lose to a last minute goal against Liverpool; prior to that they held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw and they have been grinding out decent results at home – although they couldn’t beat Newcastle here in their last fixture.

Everton don’t seem to have many goals in their games and they are always very tight affairs. Under 2.5 goals would have won in all of their last four fixtures and that’s trading at a tempting 2.06 tonight. It is tempting to back Everton at the odds considering Watford’s form coming into this game however from a value point of view; we’re very happy with 2.06 on under 2.5 goals – this might not be a classic Monday Night Football to enjoy!

BETDAQ BEST BET:

MATCH STATS

  • Everton have won 11 of their 12 home matches against Watford in all competitions, drawing the other.
  • Watford won their last league meeting with Everton in February 2018 – they have never won back to back league matches against the Toffees.
  • Everton came from two goals behind to win 3-2 in their Premier League meeting with Watford at Goodison Park last season – current Toffees boss Marco Silva was manager of the Hornets that day.
  • Everton’s 3-2 comeback win against Watford last season was one of only three occasions in Premier League history a team came from two goals behind to win in a game that was goalless at half-time (also Derby County 2-3 Newcastle United in April 2002 and QPR 3-2 Liverpool in March 2012).
  • The last 10 goals scored in Premier League matches between Everton and Watford have been scored in the second half.
  • Watford have failed to win any of their last nine away league matches played on a Monday (W0 D2 L7) since a 2-1 win at Scunthorpe United in January 2011 in the Championship; the Hornets’ last away top-flight win on a Monday was in May 1986 against Chelsea (P12 W0 D3 L9 since).
  • Watford are looking to avoid four consecutive Premier League defeats for the first time since December 2017.
  • Everton forward Richarlison has scored seven goals in 13 Premier League appearances this season, two more than he managed in the whole of last season for former club Watford (five goals in 38 appearances).
  • Roberto Pereyra is Watford’s top scorer in the Premier League this season with five goals, but he hasn’t been involved in a single goal in his last five appearances in the competition despite playing a total of six hours and 33 minutes in those games.
  • Everton’s Theo Walcott is looking to make his 300 th appearance in the Premier League in this game, while he would be the 125 th player in competition history to reach this milestone.
