PREMIER LEAGUE MONDAY: We preview Monday’s Premier League game between CHELSEA v BURNLEY (8pm) with a recommended BETDAQ bet and extended stats.

CHELSEA V BURNLEY

8pm It’s Easter Monday and we have Premier League action to enjoy tonight as Chelsea host Burnley. Chelsea have already had an amazing weekend and they haven’t kicked a ball yet – we’ve seen losses for Spurs, Manchester United and Arsenal leaving the door open for Chelsea to jump into third spot with a win tonight. It’s going to be desperately close in the race for a Top Four finish; but a win here would really give Chelsea a huge boost after the results at the weekend.

The market has them heavy odds on favourites with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Chelsea 1.26, Burnley 16.0 and the draw is 6.6. Burnley are more than likely safe (very safe) at the bottom of the Premier League as they sit in 15th after the results at the weekend, however they will need to pick up a few more points because things could still go terribly wrong, although it is around 400.0 they go down!

Apart from losing 2-0 away from home against Liverpool last Sunday, Chelsea have been in pretty good form – they needed a couple of wins as they looked like getting a bit detached in sixth position, however the others have slipped up and now the Blues are finishing the season strongly. It’s hard to see past a Chelsea win here with form advantage; they have been impressive at home recently and plenty of games have been won by two or more goals too.

Only Liverpool have been in the same league as Chelsea when it comes to conceding goals at home this season – they have only conceded ten goals in 20 games (same as Liverpool) and given the amount that they have score; we like them to cover the handicap here. They’re currently trading 1.79 -1.5 goals which looks at least ten ticks too big. Burnley are in good form; however that has been against the midtable sides and an in-form Chelsea should deal with them comfortably.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Chelsea -1.5 goals to beat Burnley at 1.79.

MATCH STATS

  • Chelsea have won six of their nine Premier League matches against Burnley (D2 L1), though they did lose this exact fixture last season (2-3).
  • Burnley have only won one of their last 11 matches away to Chelsea in all competitions (D3 L7), though it was their last such match at Stamford Bridge. The Clarets haven’t won back-to-back matches at Chelsea since December 1961.
  • Chelsea have only lost one of their 20 Premier League matches played on a Monday at Stamford Bridge (W15 D4) – a 2-3 defeat to Manchester United on Boxing Day in 1994 under manager Glenn Hoddle.
  • None of Burnley’s previous nine Premier League matches played on a Monday have ended in a draw, with the Clarets winning three and losing six of those games.
  • Chelsea have lost just one of their last 20 home league games (W12 D7), 0-1 against Leicester in December. No side has conceded fewer home goals in the Premier League this term than the Blues (10, same as Liverpool).
  • Burnley have won three consecutive Premier League games for the second time this season, last winning more in a row in the competition in April 2018 (a run of five).
  • Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante has scored three Premier League goals this season, with all of them being the winning strike in the match – the best such 100% record in the competition this term.
  • Since the start of last season, Chris Wood has scored more Premier League goals than any other Burnley player (20).
  • Eden Hazard has scored nine goals in 17 Premier League games played on a Monday, more than any other Chelsea player in the competition. He netted a brace in his last such game, against West Ham earlier this month.
  • Burnley’s Dwight McNeil has been directly involved in eight Premier League goals this season (3 goals, 5 assists), the joint-most of any teenager in the competition (level with Ryan Sessegnon). The last teenager to score a Premier League goal against Chelsea was Marcus Rashford for Man Utd in April 2017.
