PREMIER LEAGUE MONDAY: We preview Monday’s Premier League game between LIVERPOOL and WEST HAM with a recommended BETDAQ bet and extended match stats.

LIVERPOOL V WEST HAM

8pm The Champions Elect are in action on Monday night as Premier League leaders Liverpool host West Ham. Second and third played each other at the weekend with Manchester City coming out on top, meaning the gap has been closed to 19 points. One doubts Klopp will lose any sleep over that! Liverpool should win again tonight to extend the lead even further.

The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Liverpool 1.19, West Ham 21.0 and the draw is 8.8. If Liverpool win tonight would equal the English top-flight record for
consecutive home wins. They’ve won their last 20 at Anfield, and it’s nearly impossible to see anything bar a Liverpool win. They aren’t a “backable” price at 1.19, but if anything they should be shorter given their home form this season.

West Ham have been unlucky with the fixture list. They dropped back into the bottom three and then had to play Manchester City away last week and now have Liverpool away. Results went their way at the weekend with Bournemouth and Aston Villa losing, so they are still within touching distance of getting out of the relegation zone.

We fully expect Liverpool to win here, however with eyes on the Champions League we might not see that many goals tonight. We landed our Any Other Home Win lay when Manchester City played West Ham last week, and we’re happy to lay the same bet at 3.0 here. Liverpool are behind in the Champions League tie and with the Premier League already won – we might see a “just get the job done” approach here. It’s worth checking the prices of 1-0 and 2-0 home wins in the Correct Score market, but we’re happy to lay Any Other Home Win (Liverpool to score four or more and win).

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Any Other Home Win at 3.0.

MATCH STATS

  • Liverpool have won their last two home Premier League matches against West Ham United, scoring four goals in each victory.
  • West Ham have won one of their last 46 away league games against Liverpool, a 3-0 victory in August 2015 under Slaven Bilic; the Hammers have failed to score in 31 of those 46 games.
  • West Ham have only led for 126 minutes in 23 away Premier League matches combined against Liverpool, with 87 of those in their 3-0 win at Anfield in August 2015.
  • West Ham have won just two of their last 41 away top-flight games against sides starting the day top of the table (D8 L31), beating Manchester United 1-0 in May 2007 and Manchester City 2-1 in September 2015.
  • Liverpool have won their last 17 Premier League games, just one shy of the all-time English top-flight record set by Manchester City between August-December 2017 (18).
  • Liverpool have won their last 20 home Premier League games, scoring 58 goals and conceding just 12. A win in this game would equal the English top-flight record for consecutive home wins, set by the Reds themselves between January and December 1972 when Bill Shankly’s side won 21 in a row.
  • This is Liverpool’s first Premier League match on a Monday since a 1-1 draw at West Ham in February 2019. That game was the last time Liverpool failed to win a Premier League match having scored the first goal.
  • Liverpool have earned 76 points from their 26 Premier League games this season – a victory would see them equal the overall tally that Manchester United’s treble winning side earned in 1998-99.
  • West Ham manager David Moyes is yet to win an away match against Liverpool in all competitions, failing in 15 attempts (D7 L8) and losing the last three in a row with Man Utd, Sunderland and West Ham.
  • Liverpool’s Sadio Mané has been directly involved in seven goals in his last five Premier League appearances against West Ham (4 goals, 3 assists), scoring in each of his last three against the Hammers.
