STOKE CITY v SPURS (8pm): Spurs visit the Britannia Stadium tonight desperately needing a win to close the gap on Leicester at the top of the league after Leicester’s draw yesterday with West Ham – and they should be able to do it. After losing 4-1 to Liverpool last weekend, Stoke are at that stage of the season where they have nothing left to play for with the chances of qualifying for European football looking slim. Their historical record against Spurs is poor too, they’ve lost seven of the 15 meetings with Spurs in the Premier League, and while they have won five of those 15, on four of those occasions Spurs have had a player sent off.

We could be in for a feisty game. There have been seven red cards shown in the seven league meetings between the sides at the Britannia – a red card tonight is currently trading at around 4.6, and could be a good bet if it drifts to around 5.0 closer to kick off. Not that many teams are priced at around 1.75 when they visit the Britannia, however you can make a great case for a Spurs win tonight.
Newcastle are the only team who have failed to score against Stoke in their last ten games, meanwhile Spurs have conceded only nine goals in their last 12 games on the road, losing only once in their last 15 – Spurs have the best defensive record in the Premier League, and sit only one behind Man City in the goal scoring stakes – Harry Kane and co will surely be licking their lips at the prospect of facing Stoke’s poor defense.

Given that Spurs have also conceded the least amount of goals away from home this season (13), there could be value in the Asian Handicap markets here, Spurs -1 is currently priced at 2.3, or a Spurs clean sheet is priced at around 2.5. With Spurs in such good goal scoring form and after hammering United last weekend, Any Other Away Win might be a good bet at around 10.0 for those looking for a something bigger.
