PREMIER LEAGUE: We preview Saturday’s Premier League games – all with extended stats and a recommended BETDAQ bet.

CRYSTAL PALACE V BURNLEY

3pm We have no early kick off in the Premier League this Saturday and we get straight into the 3PM games! Only goal difference separates both these sides in the table and we’re bound to have a very close affair here. They sit just above the bottom three – indeed just one point away – and the loser will more than likely drop into the relegation zone at the end of the weekend. Burnley will be absolutely gutted with this season considering that they started their campaign trying to qualify for the Europa League. They have just been conceding too many goals to win games and they will have to fix that if they want to stay up – an incredible thing to stay considering the season they had last year. Burnley have no doubt been poor this season but so have Crystal Palace and looking at the odds here we have to lay Palace – they are trading 1.66 which simply looks way too short. We feel this is an overreaction to Burnley’s form and from a value point of view we have to lay Palace. We expect a closer game than odds of 1.66 suggest.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Crystal Palace at 1.66.

MATCH STATS

  • Crystal Palace have lost three of their last four Premier League games against Burnley, although they won the most recent meeting in January 2018 at Selhurst Park.
  • In league competition, Burnley have won just one of their last 12 away matches against Crystal Palace (D6 L5), a 2-0 win in April 2017 in the Premier League.
  • Six of Burnley’s eight Premier League goals against Crystal Palace have come in the opening 20 minutes, with their fastest ever Premier League goal coming against the Eagles in November 2016 (Sam Vokes – one minute, 18 seconds).
  • Crystal Palace have failed to win their opening six home Premier League matches (W0 D2 L4) of a season for a third time, also doing so in 1992-93 and 1997-98 – they were relegated in both of those seasons.
  • Burnley have lost their last three away Premier League games in London, conceding at least four goals in every match (13 goals in total).
  • The last team to concede four or more in four consecutive away top-flight visits to London were Leicester City in August 1965.
  • Burnley haven’t won any of their last 21 away top-flight matches in December (D7 L14) since a 1-0 win in December 1969 against West Bromwich Albion.
  • Crystal Palace are winless in eight Premier League games (D3 L5), failing to score in five of those.
  • Since the start of last season; only Harry Kane (8) and Alvaro Morata (7) have scored more headed goals in the Premier League than Burnley’s Sam Vokes (5). In fact, five of his last six goals have come from headers.
  • Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has only won one of his last 10 Premier League games against fellow English managers (D5 L4), with that victory coming against Sean Dyche’s Burnley in January.
  • Burnley manager Sean Dyche has won three of his last four Premier League games against Crystal Palace (L1), although that one loss came in their most recent encounter in January, with Roy Hodgson at the helm.

HUDDERSFIELD V BRIGHTON

3pm What an excellent run of form Huddersfield have been on lately and they have really jumped up the table. It just goes to show how tight things are at the bottom of the Premier League but they will go into this clash full of confidence after an unexpected 2-0 away win against Wolves last weekend. They had to wait so long to score a home goal and after their 1-0 win against Fulham they seem to have found some belief. Brighton have been grinding out some nice 1-0 wins this season and it looks likely that they will stay up now – their form last slipped in recent weeks though with a 3-1 loss to Everton, 2-1 loss to Cardiff and a 1-1 at home to Leicester. We feel that now is a good time to back Huddersfield, especially looking at Brighton’s away form and the 2.5 on the home win looks worth backing.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Huddersfield to beat Brighton at 2.5.

MATCH STATS

  • Huddersfield have lost just one of their last 10 home league games against Brighton (W5 D4), a 1-2 defeat in the 2012-13 Championship season.
  • Six of the last 10 league meetings between Huddersfield and Brighton have ended as draws, with both sides winning two games each in the other four games.
  • Huddersfield have won four points in their last two home Premier League games (W1 D1), as many as in their previous nine combined (W1 D1 L7).
  • Huddersfield are looking to score in three consecutive home league games for the first time since December 2017, while Brighton haven’t scored in four consecutive away league games since May 2016.
  • Huddersfield have won two of their last three Premier League games (D1), more than they had in their previous 20 in the competition (W1 D7 L12).
  • Among teams ever-present in the division since last season, Brighton have won fewer (3) and lost more (17) away Premier League games than any other side.
  • Brighton haven’t scored more than once in any of their last eight Premier League games, though they have found the net in each of the last six (W3 D1 L2).
  • Huddersfield striker Steve Mounie has scored all three of the Terriers’ goals against Brighton in the Premier League; the last player to score a club’s first four Premier League goals against an opponent was Yakubu for Blackburn Rovers against Swansea City, while the record is first five goals (Ian Rush, Liverpool vs Man City).
  • Brighton’s Chris Hughton won his first two league meetings against Huddersfield manager David Wagner but has since failed to win any of his last three (W0 D1 L2).
  • Glenn Murray has scored 40% of all Brighton’s Premier League goals (19/48) – the highest ratio of any player at a club in the history of the competition.

LEICESTER V WATFORD

3pm This is another clash today where not much separates the sides in the table. They sit side by side just in the top half of the table in 9th and 10th position with only two points between them. Watford started the season superbly but haven’t managed to hold onto that great form; while obviously Leicester have been through a lot with the tragic death of their owner. Leicester have only managed to score three goals in their last five games in all competitions and that has to be a major worry considering that Watford have been impressive in front of goal this season. It’s tempting to back Watford at 3.6 as that looks a little on the large side but we feel it’s better value to lay Leicester at 2.3 – that looks a very short price for a team with three goals in five games and we expect Watford to make those odds look very short.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Leicester at 2.3.

MATCH STATS

  • Leicester City have won all four of their home Premier League matches against Watford, scoring eight goals and conceding just once.
  • Watford have won just one of their last 11 away matches at the King Power Stadium against Leicester in all competitions (D2 L8), a 2-1 victory in April 2013 in the Championship.
  • Leicester are unbeaten in four Premier League games (W1 D3), last going five without defeat in December 2017.
  • Leicester have conceded a league-high share 65% of their Premier League goals in the first half of games this season (11/17), with five of those coming in the opening 15 minutes.
  • Watford have kept just one clean sheet in their last 12 away Premier League games (W2 D2 L8), a 2-0 win at Wolves in October.
  • Watford have won just one of their 13 away Premier League games in December (D2 L10), losing the last six in a row. The one victory came at Sunderland in 2015.
  • Excluding own goals, players of just four different nationalities have scored a Premier League goal for Leicester this season (Algeria, England, Nigeria, Portugal) – no side have had fewer so far.
  • 42% of Leicester’s Premier League goals against Watford have been scored by Riyad Mahrez (5/12), who left to join Manchester City in the summer.
  • Just one of Leicester striker Jamie Vardy’s four Premier League goals this season have been at home. He’s failed to score in his last three home league games, his longest drought at the King Power Stadium since November 2016 (5 games).
  • Watford’s Jose Holebas has been directly involved in six Premier League goals this season, more than any other defender in the competition (2 goals, 4 assists).

MANCHESTER CITY V BOURNEMOUTH

3pm Another Premier League weekend and another very short Manchester City price! At the time of writing Manchester City trade as short as 1.13 on BETDAQ and to be honest; it’s very hard to make a case for laying them. Lyon were able to hold them to a 2-2 midweek in the Champions League, an impressive result considering they also managed to beat them here too. However in the Premier League it has been a very different story – they have been simply demolishing teams and banging in the goals for fun. In their last six games in all competitions; they have netted 23 goals – very impressive stats. Bournemouth are having a great season but it’s impossible to see them winning here – we feel that they can keep it relatively close though compared to other teams who have come here and we’re happy to lay Any Other Home Win (City to score four or more goals and win) at 2.4.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Lay Any Other Home Win at 2.4.

MATCH STATS

  • Manchester City have won all six Premier League matches against Bournemouth, scoring 21 goals and conceding only two.
  • Bournemouth are yet to win a league match against Manchester City – in 12 previous meetings, they’ve drawn twice and lost 10.
  • Bournemouth are yet to lose an away Premier League match against the reigning champion – they beat Chelsea in both the 2015-16 and 2017-18 seasons and drew with Leicester City in 2016-17.
  • If Man City avoid defeat, it will be their third unbeaten run in the Premier League of 20+ games – something only Manchester United (7 times) and Arsenal (4 times) have done more often in the competition.
  • Bournemouth have lost their last three Premier League games, all by a 2-1 scoreline. They’ve not lost four in a row since September 2017.
  • The only two games Man City have failed to win in the Premier League this season have been in the only two games in which they’ve failed to score in the first half (1-1 vs Wolves, 0-0 vs Liverpool).
  • Under Pep Guardiola, Man City have scored 125 home goals in the Premier League – three more than Bournemouth have netted in all games in the competition since 2016-17.
  • Man City’s Raheem Sterling has had a hand in nine goals in five Premier League appearances against Bournemouth (7 goals, 2 assists), averaging a goal or assist every 48 minutes.
  • Raheem Sterling could become the first player in Premier League history to score in his first six appearances against an opponent, having netted in all five of his games for Man City against Bournemouth so far.
  • Seven of Man City striker Sergio Aguero’s eight Premier League goals this season have come in home games. The Argentine has been involved in 23 goals in his last 14 Premier League games at the Etihad (18 goals, 5 assists).

NEWCASTLE V WEST HAM

3pm This is an interesting clash with two evenly matched side again. It’s been a day for even matched side in the table; apart from City obviously! Both these sides are only separated by goal difference as they sit in 13th and 14th with 12 points. Newcastle sat bottom of the Premier League for a while and had to wait ages for their first win but they come into this tie off the back of three straight wins. They have grinded out one goal wins against Watford, Bournemouth and Burnley; and they have a superb chance of adding another three points here against a West Ham side who concede too many goals. The Hammers have conceded ten goals in their last four games in all competitions and with Newcastle in good form and full of confidence coming into this tie, we’re happy to back a home win at 2.52 which looks ten ticks too big.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Newcastle to beat West Ham at 2.52.

  • Newcastle have won their last three Premier League matches against West Ham, their best run against the Hammers since winning four in a row between September 1993 and March 1995.
  • West Ham have won just one of their last 14 Premier League visits to St. James’ Park against Newcastle (D5 L8), a 1-0 win in November 2012.

  • West Ham’s Andy Carroll has scored just once in 14 Premier League games against his former clubs, netting in a 2-0 win for the Hammers against Liverpool in January 2016.
  • Matt Ritchie has registered 14 league assists for Newcastle United since joining the Magpies ahead of 2016-17, more than any other player for the club.
  • Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez has won six of his seven home Premier League matches against West Ham (D1).
  • Manuel Pellegrini has won just one of his first six away Premier League matches as West Ham manager (W1 D2 L3) – he also won one of his first six as Man City manager (W1 D1 L4).

SOUTHAMPTON V MANCHESTER UNITED

5.30pm Jose Mourinho and Manchester United had their blushes saved late on Tuesday night after a last minute winner against Young Boys in the Champions League. Prior to that Crystal Palace held them to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford and their story remains similar all season – they just aren’t creating enough chance and playing well enough to blow teams away like in the past. It looks certain that they will miss out on a Top Four finish this season now and they will hardly have much success in the Champions League. The good news for them though is they face a poor Southampton side here who continue to struggle in front of goal. Scoring has been a massive problem for them for a while now and after fighting hard to stay up last season; it looks like they’ll have a very similar season this year too. United are a tempting back at 1.92 considering Southampton’s troubles however under 2.5 goals looks massive at 1.95 – it’s hard to see United scoring a lot here and Southampton have only managed four goals in six games and two of them came against Fulham – unders looks the best bet of today.

BETDAQ BEST BET:
Under 2.5 goals at 1.95.

MATCH STATS

  • Southampton are winless in seven home Premier League matches against Manchester United (W0 D2 L5) since a 1-0 win in August 2003.
  • Since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, Man Utd have won four of their 10 Premier League games against Southampton (D4 L2), having won nine of the last 10 under the Scotsman.
  • Manchester United have come from behind to beat Southampton on eight different occasions in the Premier League – no side has done so against a specific opponent more in the competition (also Chelsea vs Sunderland and Man Utd vs Newcastle).
  • Southampton are winless in their six home Premier League games this season (D4 L2), their longest ever winless run from the start of a league season at home.
  • Southampton have picked up just one win from their last 17 Premier League home matches (D9 L7), beating Bournemouth 2-1 in April.
  • Manchester United have lost six away Premier League matches in 2018 – in only one previous calendar year have they lost more in the competition, (7 in 2015).
  • Southampton have led in five Premier League games this season, but have won just one of them (D2 L2). They’ve lost more points from winning positions than any other Premier League side in 2018-19 (10).
  • Since Jose Mourinho took charge of Man Utd, only Southampton (15) have drawn more Premier League games 0-0 than the Red Devils (10).
  • Man Utd striker Romelu Lukaku has scored four Premier League goals at St. Mary’s against Southampton – only two players have ever scored more against Saints at St. Mary’s in the top-flight (Olivier Giroud and Robin van Persie, both five goals).
  • Four of Man Utd’s last five Premier League away goals have been scored by Anthony Martial. Only Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (5) have scored more away Premier League goals than the Frenchman this season.
