DARTS SEMI-FINALS: The PDC World Darts Championship is at the Semi-Final stage and this promises to be a cracking Monday night at the Alexandra Palace, London.

Defending Champion Michael Van Gerwen takes on the 12th seed Nathan Aspinall. Gerwyn Price will be attempting to reach his first Final vs Peter Wright, who tasted Final heart break back in 2014. Let’s take a look at what we can expect.

Gerwyn Price vs Peter Wright

A celtic derby of sorts here as Wales’ Gerwyn Price goes head-head with Scotland’s Peter Wright. Price is in first World Semi-Final but that doesn’t stop him having shorter odds on the Betdaq Exchange. The “Iceman” is at 1.67 while Peter Wright is at 2.2.

The recent Grand Slam winner has been one of the form player in the Alexnadra Palace. He has only lost five sets and had five 100+ checkouts. He was never in trouble in the Quarter-Finals, trashing Glen Durrant 5-1. The 34 year old has only once averaged over 100 and that you need to be averaging near three figures for a Semi-Final.

Peter Wright is back in his first Semi-Final for three years. “Snakebite” produced moments of pure class in his Quarter-Final win over Luke Humphries. He averaged 105.86 that included twelve 180s, a 170 checkout and two other 100+ checkouts. The 7th seed has been brilliant at hitting the maximum, claiming forty-seven 180s to date.

This match really suits the category of 50/50. Both players are in really good form and will fancy their chances. This has the potential of going to a deciding leg, which is something Price is not familiar with.

He been in control of all his game but he will endure a few sweaty moments tonight.

Best Bet: Peter Wright to have the most 180s and Gerwyn Price to win (3.4)

Michael Van Gerwen vs Nathan Aspinall

The reigning champion hasn’t hit the top form he would expect from himself but it is still no surprise he is the heavy favorite on the Betdaq Exchange priced at 1.14. Aspinall, who is contesting back-back Semi-Finals, is at the long odds of 5.5.

Van Gerwen lost the opening set in his Quarter-Final vs Darius Labanauskas but still stormed back to win 5-2 including winning the last two sets. The Dutch man is averaging 101 from his last two matches, thrown twenty-three maximums in last three matches but he knows there are areas he still needs to improve. His checkouts rate has been below 50% in all four of his matches to date. If he starts hitting those doubles, then it really will be more like “Mighty Mike”.

Nathan Aspinall has shown last year Semi-Final appearance was no fluke and finds himself in the last four again. He booked his place in tonight’s double header after 5-3 victory over Dimitri Van Den Bergh. The only English player left in the tournament made hard work of it though, as he lead 4-1 at one stage. A checkout of 122 and eleven maximum’s were his highlights yesterday.

Van Gerwan has admitted his concentrations haven’t always been high in the tournament but if he can cut that out, then he could display an exhibition of Darts. Aspinall will feel the experience of last year will stand to him. He gave a good of himself vs Michael Smith before losing 6-3. A similar score line could be in store here.

Best Bet: Back Michael Van Gerwin to win 6-3 (5.5)
