PURPLE PATCH: Thomas Tuchel has enjoyed an unbeaten start to his reign at Chelsea, and so ahead of tonight’s game against Liverpool, we took a look at the stats around this Purple Patch.

It wasn’t that long ago when it was all gloom and doom at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea struggling for form under Frank Lampard.

Lampard’s young side had impressed many in the previous campaign and it was hoped they’d kick on this term, particularly with an injection of new and exciting players.

However, things quickly turned sour and in typical Roman Abramovich fashion, Lampard was ousted from the Stamford Bridge hotseat.

In came the former Borussia Dortmund and PSG manager Thomas Tuchel and based on the evidence so far, it’s been the correct decision.

Under their boss, Chelsea have played nine times in all competitions and are still yet to taste defeat.

They’ve won six and drawn on the other three occasions, keeping an impressive seven clean sheets in that time.

Their strong start under the German means they are just one point off the Champions League spots ahead of their crunch game with reigning Premier League champions Liverpool – a game that seems sure to go a long way in deciding who will be dining at Europe’s top table next season.

Chelsea are also into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup – another example of the fact that it’s very much been so far so good for Tuchel’s Chelsea.
