PURPLE PATCH: How Everton’s goalkeeper is on a one-man mission to keep them in the Premier League

After the weekend’s Premier League action, Everton climbed out of the relegation zone, going a point clear of Burnley and Leeds with a game in hand.

If they do manage to clinch Premier League survival, they’ll have Jordan Pickford’s recent heroics in crucial games against Leicester and Chelsea largely to thank.

The Everton keeper has made a remarkable 14 saves in those two matches and his defiant efforts in goal might end up keeping the Toffees afloat.

Having kept a clean sheet against Chelsea, which included a save of the season contender to keep out Cesar Azpilicueta’s strike, he then went on to record an impressive seven stops against Leicester, most notably denying Harvey Barnes from close range.

Both sterling performances earned the England keeper man of the match awards and with his side now out of the relegation zone and boasting a +1 goal difference from their last five matches, the chances of maintaining their Premier League status look significantly stronger than they did a couple of weeks ago.
