PURPLE PATCH: Belgium are dreaming of EURO 2020 glory ahead of Friday’s quarter-final tie against Italy, and will be pinning their hopes on in-form frontman Romelu Lukaku.

If Belgium go on to win their first major tournament in footballing history, they’ll be largely grateful to the efforts of their star striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Inter Milan forward, often described as one who doesn’t perform on the big stage, has been a revelation since his debut 11 years ago and his goals are a big reason why the Belgians are currently the best side in the world.

Since that debut in 2010, Lukaku has played 97 times for his country and has already notched up 63 goals – the most of any Belgian player.

His impressive strike rate means he averages 0.65 goals-per-game, which, for context, is a better ratio that a certain Cristiano Ronaldo!

It’s not like he just scores goals either as the 28-year-old has assisted 14 times in his Belgian career to date.

He’s started Euro 2020 in great form too, scoring three times in four appearances and if the Belgians are going to get past the likes of Italy and Spain, you feel it’s going to be crucial that Lukaku continues to find the target more often than not.
