NOW IT’S NINE WINNING NAPS OUT OF 12: Clinton Hill (WON 11-8) was Shamrock’s fourth consecutive winning nap and his ninth from the last 12. Only one has been out of the frame.

It’s now 9 winning naps from the last 12:

Fri: BORAGH STEPS (NAP) WON 7/4
Sat: CADMIUM (NAP) 3rd
Sun: A TOI PHIL (NAP) WON 6/4
Thu: PRESENTING PERCY (NAP) WON 9/4
Fri: ALBELL (NAP) lost
Sat: LAURINA (NAP) WON 13/8
Tue: POORMANS HILL (NAP) WON 4/5
Wed: HARRIE (NAP) 2nd
Sat: FOOTPAD (NAP) WON 4/9
Sun: SAMCRO (NAP) WON 4/6
Wed: LACKANEEN LEADER (NAP) WON 2/1
Thu: CLINTON HILL (NAP) WON 11/8

Steps up! When Boragh Steps scored over 6f here three weeks back, he beat winners, including the favourite, and I reckon he can take in the extra furlong at Dundalk tonight (7f).

The dam’s sire, Namid, was a terrific sprinter. The sire, Footstepsinthesand, won a bit of a race, called the Newmarket 2,000 Guineas!

So class and talent. And that applies to the trainer, too. Joseph O’Brien has just added the Irish Gold Cup to his mantelshelf and it’s onwards and upwards for him as well as Boragh Steps.

War Hero is also a 6f winner only, and in four of his five races here in the autumn, he finished second, including twice over today’s CD.

It’s a worry that he seems to prefer to be the bridesmaid, rather than put in a bigger effort to take the bouquet
