SHAMROCK LANDS ANOTHER NAP: SHAMROCK landed an 18th winning nap from the last 30 (60%) with ARCTIC FIRE WON 4/5 on Sunday.

The Hatton’s Grace Hurdle panned out well for me at Fairyhouse yesterday when the nap Arctic Fire won well.

Despite his class, he was a market drifter on course – out to as big as evens before being returned at 4/5.

Winning trainer Willie Mullins said: “The ratings tell the story and he was entitled to win. He took a keen hold but has always been that way. He’ll run over two miles at Christmas, and I’d say he will stay at home (Leopardstown). I don’t think he’d want to go any further than that the way he pulls.”

Arctic Fire completed a Grade 1 double for Mullins who earlier won the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle with Long Dog. I opposed him in favour of Bachasson and there was precious little between them in the race with the favourite prevailing by three parts of a length.

As for Cheltenham, Long Dog is likely to step up in trip for either the Neptune or Albert Bartlett and Bachasson for the Supreme.

Irish racing resumes at Clonmel on Thursday.
