MULLINS AND ELLIOTT GO HEAD-TO-HEAD: SHAMROCK naps in the opener on the Tramore card on Monday.

If you thought the Grand National was tough – try getting your head around today’s card at Tramore. Or perhaps it’s just me, bleary eyed, having watched a fantastic US Masters last night !

Willie Mullins and Gordon Ellliott go head-to-head for the umpteenth time in the opener and this time I favour Elliott with Leomar.

This one has so far proved costly to follow and was turned over at odds-on on heavy ground at Cork last time out but should be better suited by the faster ground today. He ran one of his better races on yielding ground at Naas and his form reads pretty well in the context of this weak opener.

The fly in the ointment could be the Mullins trained Easy Gold who didn’t show a great deal in three starts on the flat for Ed Walker. It’s obviously significant that he’s joined Mullins but there isn’t anything obvious on his pedigree to suggest he’ll excel jumping.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Leomar (4.45 Tramore)
