‘MISS’ IS A HIT AT KILBEGGAN: Shamrock rates a Presenting filly ‘too good to miss’ at Kilbeggan today. Here are his assessments, race by race, including an 11.0 outsider.

5.30 Kilbeggan Gigginstown’s God’s County has done nothing wrong and, with the stable currently boasting three out of four in the first three, the grey should shake off his bridesmaid reputation after three seconds in a row.

I love the misprint in the Racing Post Spotlight under Like A Comet: ‘shown some aptitude for hurling’ That on the day the Joe Cooney Memorial is revived? Give that sub-editor a free bet.

6.00 Kilbeggan With a winner and three placed from four runners in this, Dessie Hughes has a really progressive Presenting filly in Miss Accurate.

Cinderella Story is unexposed, and Annie Other and Black Rock Lake can be fancied as course winners, but ‘Accurate’ at 4.4 this morning looked too good to miss!

6.30 Kilbeggan This race is revived, six years on, carrying forward a reputation for success among the lightweights: only once did a horse carrying more than 10st 10lb win it, and he was a young improver aged five.

Fitzgutentyte (11.0 as I write) just about fits the bill with a top boy booked, and I can’t see owner Edgar Allen po-faced after this.

7.00 Kilbeggan Eyre Apparent is a worse joke than mine just there now, but should be seriously competitive back to a more suitable trip.

Clouded Thoughts finished in front of him at Cork but Jessica Harrington (0-33) remains in the doldrums, missing strike with 12 placed without winning in the last fortnight.

7.30 Kilbeggan Action Master would win this over hurdles but Traffic Article and Goban Saor have better form over fences. Traffic Article just.

8.00 Kilbeggan Best of the day is a race I’ve never known won by the favourite and, though Jamsie Hall was only just beaten on Tuesday, I’m heading for Keoghs Bar.

The trainer-jockey combo was two out of two here in June, beating Midlands National winner, Future All Star, and is back to the scene he loves today.
