9-1 WIN FOR SHAMROCK OUTSIDER: Yellow Rock (WON 9-1), which was a double-figure offer on the Daq in the morning, was the redeeming bet in the Shamrock column yesterday. Look out for another outsider today, with two evening meetings in Ireland to choose from.

Down Royal: Three winners from stall one and two from stall three. That’s how important the low draw was on last year’s card, and it seems to have gone the way of the track’s top trainers today.

Vincent Ward, three winners from just four runners here, has a staying star in End Of The Affair, which heads for Galway and then maybe the Newmarket Cesarewitch.

The stable’s Regal Tramp (7.55) is a nice each-way price in an eight-runner field as I write. Stall 4 is not an essential in a 10-furlong plus race, but it helps.

Dermot Weld’s luck of the draw is a much bigger bonus: incredibly, he was gifted stalls one and two for Can Do Les and Allusive Power (6.25) in one maiden – he’s running Allusive Power – and stall one in the other for Flic Flac (6.55).

Wexford: Jim Bolger and Kevin Manning is the team to be with when backing Wexford maidens, which is why I make Let The Heirs Walk (5.35) my outsider today: 10.0 on Betdaq.

The Ger Lyons’ yard (three from seven) is also hot here, and I shall nap CD winner Music Pearl (6.05) to outplay Port Elizabeth, who couldn’t win a claimer last time, even if the t ask was a difficult one. I look at her strike rate, which is poor.
