SHAMROCK’S HAT-TRICK BID: Shamrock bids for a hat-trick of naps today. Following on from BALLYCASEY WON 4/6 yesterday and THOUVA WON 13/8 on Wednesday.
We head to this evening’s meeting at Dundalk and the all-important nap runs in the opener at 6.00.
Rapid Approach looks the likeliest winner. Jim Bolger’s runner has improved with each start and went closest yet when second over a mile here last time out in a big runner field.
He is stepped back in distance tonight to six furlongs but that shouldn’t cause any problems as he ran well over this trip last month when finishing a close up fourth to Zalty.
Biggest danger, Bainne, is another stepping back in distance tonight. She travelled well when third over seven furlongs last time here (she started favourite) and should appreciate the step back to six but is already starting to look quite exposed.
Indian Scout arrives in cracking form and looks a solid place bet in the final race at 9.25.
