ABSOLUTELY FLYING! Shamrock’s big-race bet, Absolute Crackers (2nd 14-1), ‘flashed home’ at Fairyhouse yesterday and was ahead ‘not long after the line’, according to the Racing Post.

I’m starting at the end. You know, the way you read the morning papers, hoping to find a nugget for the races in the sports section (but there hardly ever is).
My bet in the last race at the end of the Ballinrobe card is Sorcerer (6.35). My mind is working like this:

For Spring The Cue and Arch Rebel to be in a beginners’ chase at age 12 and 10 respectively – not to mention Golden Barrell – is ludicrous. If they win, good luck to them, but they won’t carry my money.

Also at the front of the betting is La Sarrazine after 513 days off. I have similar concerns about Grandeur Cappy, Maca Rince, Under The Spell and Vardas Supreme.

But, though Sorcerer hasn’t been seen for nearly a year, the trainer said at the time that he was a young horse who showed promise for chasing and needed to do some growing.

That trainer, Arthur Moore, has won this race before with a similar type, under today’s rider, Davy Russell. I rest my case.

SHAMROCK’S BETS
