18-1 WINNER SHAKES THE LAYERS: Shamrock named Shake The Bucket (WON 18-1) as his only Outsider of the day yesterday. He landed his nap, Wave (WON 11-10), for two out of two following Local Celebrity (WON 11-8) on Thursday, and completed a double with Eastern Rules (WON 4-5).

FOUR LAYS IN A ROW: He is currently four in a row with his lays: Celtic Sultan (unplaced 12-1), Rileyev (unplaced 8-1), Montan (2nd 5-2 favourite) and Colombian (2nd 4-6 favourite).

The O’Hares are running! I suggest you are out of the traps smartly and take some early Betdaq offers about Barney O’Hare’s runners at Naas today.

The ex-bookie turned bookie basher, who first hit the headlines at Naas with a coup of three winners from three runners in November 2009, appears to have a double lined up two years on.

The brace of O’Hare’s, Bale O’Shea (4.00) at 10.8 as I write, and Accordion To Paddy (4.30) at 9.8, are on the racecard with son, Michael, as the trainer. ‘People say I’m training the horses,’ says O’Hare senior, ‘but I’m just training the trainer.’

Bale O’Shea won the 4.30 at the corresponding meeting in 2010, backed down to 5-2 favourite. That’s the handicap hurdle in which Accordion To Paddy now tries for a third win from three O’Hare starters in the race.

‘Paddy’ slammed 27 others over CD on the soft in January, pulling more than four lengths clear off a rating of 82, so today’s 113 looks a steadier.

But, since then, he’s been beaten only a head off 107, giving 3lb to the ultra-consistent Trendelenberg at Navan over nearly a mile more. I call that versatile; I call it improving.

Bale O’Shea (4.00) now takes in the long-distance hurdle which the O’Hare stable won last year with Sweet Shock, also backed down to favourite at 4-1.

The seven-year-old is trying to uphold another two-from-two record for the stable in this race and, though up in the weights and first time out for 304 days, still looks well in on 10st 5lb and goes well fresh.

In the belief that one-time leading hurdler, Muirhead, is going right to the top as a chaser, I shall nap him in the Gold Cup at Ascot (3.40).

SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: Muirhead (3.40 Ascot)
EACH-WAY: Bale O’Shea (4.00 Naas) and Accordion To Paddy (4.30 Naas)
DAQ YANKEE: Noble Prince (2.20 Naas), Muirhead (3.40 Ascot), Bale O’Shea (4.00 Naas) and Accordion To Paddy (4.30 Naas)
