WINNING DOUBLE ON SATURDAY: Both the NAP Thomas Edison and NEXT BEST Pique Sous won easily at Bellewstown last night. Both were returned at 1/3 but were available at better odds earlier in the day on BETDAQ.

It was a shame that So You Think was withdrawn from yesterday’s Coral Eclipse at Sandown as, given how the race panned out, he may well have won – but I take nothing away from the winner Nathaniel who was napped by my colleague DAQMAN.

We head back to Bellewstown today and it was pleasing to see both bets oblige yesterday – although the odds were much skinnier than I had hoped for.

In the opener at 2.35 That Boy David has proved an expensive horse for me to follow and I have given up on that project. I much prefer the chances of Lord Jim whose overall profile is stronger. Although still a maiden in eight starts, he has run some sound races in defeat and seems to enjoy the cut in the ground. This won’t take much winning and the market signs are positive.

In the hurdle at 4.35 we are down to six runners at the time of writing and I see no obvious reason why Discoteca shouldn’t complete the hat-trick. He seems totally versatile ground wise with his two recent wins coming on heavy and good to firm ground !!!

SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: Lord Jim (2.35 Bellewstown)
NEXT BEST: Discoteca (4.35 Bellewstown)
