THE BOUNTY HUNTER: Shamrock finds a 27.0 Betdaq-value outsider at Listowel this afternoon and reckons the stats point to an easy life picking the winner of the feature hurdle.

There’s a Life line from the stats today. The big race, the Guinness Hurdle, at Listowel, simply never ever goes to horses carrying more than 10st 10lb.

Famous last words. But it’s run in the mud this afternoon, which will make every pound count, and I shall side with Life Of Reilly (4.55), at 8.0 on Betdaq as I write.

‘Reilly’ has never been out of the frame on a left-handed track and is weighted to reverse Killarney placings of last month with The Bull Hayes (Clarach and False Economy behind).

Dermot Weld has made a winning start to both of the first two days at this festival, and could land a quick double of maidens this afternoon.

Sunset Stanza (2.25) has obvious form claims in the mile, and the grey Lord Windark (2.55) has been gifted a good draw over 7f immediately afterwards.

The progressive Saint Gervais (5.55) must go in any mixed bets on your Daq Multiples and, for the outsider of the day, I take Pay The Bounty (5.25).

There are four things that suggest a payday from Bounty.

He’s a stone lower over hurdles than over fences and missed the Kerry National for this; he’s a course winner; he’s won on heavy ground; and, most important, he wins after a lay-off.

Pay The Bounty hasn’t been seen for 186 days but had been absent six months when he scored at Cork on the heavy last October. A huge 27.0 on Betdaq this morning.
