RUBY’S COMEBACK WIN? Shamrock forecasts a first win back for Ruby Walsh at Listowel today but warns that Tony McCoy is in competition, not just paying Lip service there this afternoon!
Do you understand? That, my godfather informs me, is the meaning of Capisci. And today at Listowel it could mean Ruby Walsh’s first winner since his fall at Killarney in July.
‘They’re sure to have set one up for him this week’, you will hear them say. But, if they have ‘set up’ Capisci (5.25 Listowel), no one told A P McCoy, who is over here to ride, among others, Worldly Wise in the same race.
McCoy doesn’t understand defeat so, incredibly, the two great pals could be head to head at the finish of the maiden hurdle, a replay of many a clash at Cheltenham and elsewhere which has brought us great thrills from two great riders.
Capisci makes his jumping bow after an all-the-way Kilbeggan win – under Ruby’s sister, Katie – and a third in another bumper behind Black Benny at Galway. They meet on revised terms over shorter here, which puts them close together.
But that man McCoy will surely have his say on Worldy Wise since that one already has plenty of hurdling experience and, as a bridesmaid – seven out of eight seconds or thirds – is the ideal ride for no-nonsense A P.
McCoy appears to have an excellent each-way chance on Louisville Lip (4.55), another who ran well at Galway on the Flat and has ground conditions to suit over hurdles here.
