BETDAQ BEATS THE BOOKIES: SHAMROCK HAS 33.0 MASTER OVERSEER: This bet, secured in this column by Shamrock for today’s Welsh National, is proof if you still need it that OUTSIDERS are fantastic prices at the exchange offers ante-post on Betdaq.

NOW FOR THE BIG IRISH CHASE AT 16.0: Today he reckons the two market leaders in the big Irish chase at Leopardstown are underpriced; a 16.0 shot has his conditions today and would have beaten one of them bar a stumble last time out.

1.25 Leopardstown (Dial-A-Bet Chase): Golden Silver, Forpadydeplasterer and Noble Prince have already seen a rear view of Big Zeb and he seems set for a third success in this race. All are worse off under the conditions.

But Big Zeb is no Big Buck’s; he’s not invincible; he’s been beaten before by Golden Silver, is now aged 10 and Noble Prince is the improver of the race, with 5.5 available where the favourite is 1.68.

It’s one of those things – they’re only a couple of lengths apart on form – where, like Kauto Star v Long Run, the younger horse will have his day sooner or later; as long as you keep getting 5.5, you can hardly go wrong.

1.55 Leopardstown (Future Champion Novices Hurdle): Sous Les Cieux has been very impressive and I was hoping the presence of three other dual winners this term might just get us some odds.

But offers are pretty prohibitive unless you make him a banker in your Daq Multiples, as I intend to do.

2.10 Chepstow (Welsh National): I took 33.0 Master Overseer in my stats check of this race and he’s around half that price this morning at 17.0 on Betdaq.

I’ll spend some of my overs, with an old punt each way on two more outsiders: improving novice Our Island (27.0) and heavy-ground-lover Blazing Bailey (31.0).

2.50 Limerick (Tim Duggan Memorial) Eric McNamara bids for a hat-trick in this with Faltering Fullback (17.0 this morning), who is bred for a Gold Cup or an Arc, by Double Trigger out of an Ardross mare.

Seabass and Start Me Up are winners already this month but the one I fancy is Arthur Moore’s Linnel, for whom a gamble seemed to be starting this morning as he captured the grid position in the market.

3.5 Leopardstown (Paddy Power Chase): On His Own is clearly interesting off a low weight with Ruby Walsh up, but not as favourite surely; he simply does not have the form in the book. I would want a double-figure offer.

Nor can I see how Groody Hill can be second up in the market when Cross Appeal (16.0 as I write) would probably have beaten him at Navan, had he not stumbled and is favoured by the better ground today.

The only thing we know for certain is that J P McManus will work even harder than the jockeys, having to scan the field through his bins, looking for nine personal runners.
