MAGNA-NIFICENT: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the featured Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at The Curragh this afternoon.
Plenty of BETDAQ support for the Aidan O’Brien trained Magna Grecia in this afternoon’s Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at The Curragh and I think the three-year-old will be hard to beat as he bids to follow up on his Newmarket 2,000 Guineas win.
He has only tasted defeat once in his career so far from four starts – that came in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket where he was pipped by Persian King who has gone on to win at Group 1 level in France.
Magna Grecia couldn’t have been more impressive than when winning the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket three weeks ago where he beat King Of Change by two and a half lengths.
His big danger today is likely to come from John Gosden’s Too Darn Hot who lost his unbeaten record when finishing second to Telecaster at York in the Dante Stakes. He wouldn’t be the first horse to be excused a defeat at York which can throw up some odd results. John Gosden won this in 2014 with Kingman.
It should be a cracker but preference is for the prize to stay at home.
NAP: Magna Grecia (3.35 Curragh)
