GALWAY OPENER: SHAMROCK’s Saturday nap runs in the opening maiden on the penultimate day of the Galway Festival.


Aidan O’Brien has won today’s opening maiden at Galway on four of the last five years and should extend the monopoly today with Broome.

He was slowly away on debut at Killarney in the race won easily by stable companion Anthony Van Dyck who has since followed up in Group 3 company.

With the benefit of experience, Broome should prove hard to beat in this company.

Aidan O’Brien also runs debutant The Corporal who is bred for longer trips and the main danger may come from the Dermot Weld trained Lightning Amber who has finished third on both her starts to date.
