1000 GUINEAS DAY: SHAMROCK looks ahead to 1000 Guineas day at the Curragh where 14 fillies are chasing Classic glory.

Another Classic day at the Curragh with the 1,000 Guineas centre stage. The ground has eased slightly this morning and is officially now soft.

The morning news on the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE is the weakness of Aidan O’Brien’s Joan Of Arc who is on the drift. It seems an over-reaction if that drift is purely based on ground concerns as it was soft to heavy after all when she when her maiden here back in March.

Since then she was only sixth in a 1000 Guineas trial at Leopardstown but then showed much more what she was about when stepped up to a mile to land another trial here earlier in the month when she made all to beat Flirting Bridge and Thinking Of You who re-opposes today.

I’m going to side with the numbers and Pretty Gorgeous who is quite comfortably the top on official ratings.

The Joseph O’Brien trained filly lacks a prep run but does get a really big tick in the ground box.

She’s won both a Group 1 and Group 2 in soft ground and had subsequent Newmarket 1000 Guineas winner Mother Earth back in third when winning at Newmarket last October.

The form looks rock solid.
