GROUP ACTION AT THE CURRAGH: Busy day at the Curragh on Sunday with two Group 2’s on the card.

There are two Group races on the Sunday Curragh card:

2:55 Sapphire Stakes (Group 2)

Caspian Prince caused a shock in this race 12 months ago when pipping the odds-on Marsha by a short head.

Now trained by Michael Appleby, he comes into this year’s renewal in good form having been beaten a short head himself last time out in the competitive Rockingham Handicap over course and distance.

He may struggle though against fellow English raider Mabs Cross who was an excellent third in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.

3:30 Kilboy Estate Stakes (Fillies and Mares Group 2)

Aidan and Joseph O’Brien have six of the seven strong field but Jessica Harrington could spoil the game of Monopoly with Im’m So Fancy who bids for a course hat-trick.

She loves the fast ground but needs a career best to win this giving weight away to her rivals.

A better bet may be Magical who has form on better ground – although most of her runs have come on a testing surface.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Mabs Cross (2.55 Curragh)
NEXT BEST: Magical (3.30 Curragh)
