CURRAGH SUNDAY NAP: SHAMROCK looks ahead to the stellar Sunday card at the Curragh which features no less than four Group 1 races.

A huge afternoon of racing at the Curragh with four Group 1 races on the card.

There looks to be a great renewal of the Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at 4.10pm even allowing for the fact that the Aidan O’Brien trained Battleground misses the race due to coughing.

The sole English raider Master Of The Seas has to be given a strong chance here.

The Charlie Appleby trained runner is unbeaten in two starts and remains a hugely exciting prospect.

The son of Dubawi made a winning debut at Newmarket in June beating William Bligh by three quarters of a length (pair pulled 10 lengths clear of the third).

But it was his second start back at Newmarket on the July Course that he really impressed. Despite getting bumped as the stalls opened, he came home three lengths clear in the Group 2 Superlative Stales and there is surely plenty of improvement to come?

BETDAQ favourite at the time of writing is Lucky Vega who was hugely impressive here when winning the Phoenix Stakes over six furlongs. That definitely sets the bar at a high level and he is a worthy favourite. I am just pinning my hopes on Master Of The Seas being exceptional, which he will need to be.
