CURRAGH ON SUNDAY: SHAMROCK heads to the Curragh on Sunday for his best bet of the afternoon running in the 2.35.

Compass Hill is my best bet on the Curragh card this afternoon.

It’s a concern that he hasn’t been seen since his debut at Naas last August but the form of his second to Lucida looks exceptional in light of what Lucida has done since – notably runner-up to Legatissimo in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket last time out!

Fitness has to be taken on trust but he could easily outclass these with Joseph O’Brien onboard.

The Eddie Lynam trained Fort Del Oro made a very promising debut here at the Curragh last month when a three quarters of a length runner-up to Urbestchance who went on to finish third to the good prospect Roca Rojo at Gowran Park.

The ground was really testing for Fort Del Oro’s debut and she should be suited by the better surface this afternoon and rates the biggest danger.

The feature race on the card is the TRM Ballyogan Stakes – a Group 3 at 3.40pm. Narrowing a six strong field down to four suggests it’s probably a no bet race for me. Narrow preference was for Haydock winner Blhadawa.
