WINNING NAP BUT PRICE KILLED BY NON RUNNERS: Marchese Marconi landed SHAMROCK’s NAP at 2/7 yesterday but the price was spoilt by two runners coming out leaving just a three horse race.
Flat and jumps action on Sunday from Fairyhouse and Limerick.
Big race of the day is the Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F. Brownstown Stakes – a Group 3 for fillies at Fairyhouse (3.30pm).
It looks an open renewal this year with narrow preference for Queen Nefertiti who was impressive when making a winning debut at Leopardstown but found Group 1 company too tough when 8th to stable companion Legatissimo in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. She didn’t run too badly though for one so inexperienced and was prominent for much of the way – only weakening inside the final furlong. The drop back to seven furlongs today is definitely a positive today.
Ainippe won a Group 3 at the Curragh last time out but that came over six furlongs and she is unproven over this trip.
Majestic Queen is a big danger. She sprung a 16/1 shock when winning a Group 3 over this trip at Lingfield and finished second in this race last year to Tobann.
