BIRD FLIES HOME: SHAMROCK landed his NAP on Saturday with the hugely impressive Getabird (NAP) WON EVENS. He has now been propelled to the top of the Supreme market at Cheltenham.

I think it’s fair to say we saw a very good horse yesterday in Getabird.

The Willie Mullins trained runner was taking a massive step-up in class but couldn’t have been more impressive – quickening up well on testing ground to beat Mengli Khan who is a Grade 1 winner himself!

Willie Mullins said after the race: “The rain last night was a big help but he showed plenty of pace there. Looking at that you’d have to think he would be good enough for the Supreme Novices’, but he’ll get an entry in the Ballymore as well.

“On that evidence you’d think that he would be able to jump with any novice in the country.”

Feature race at Fairyhouse on Sunday is the Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase and it might well be another for Willie Mullins.

The question though is which one? He saddles Acapella Bourgeois and Townshend who both have solid chances. Preference is for the former who was a faller in the Ladbrokes Troytown Handicap Chase at Navan on his seasonal reappearance and then second back at the track to stable companion Polidam who is now a non runner in this.

At face value it was a disappointing run, given he was sent off odds-on, but this confirmed front runner can hopefully build up a big enough lead over the shortest trip he has been tried over in his career!

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Acapella Bourgeois (2.35 Fairyhouse)
