O’BRIEN TO LAND GROUP 3 BUT WITH WHICH ONE? The Killavullan Stakes is the feature race on Sunday’s card at Leopardstown and again Aidan O’Brien dominates with three of the seven runners.

The Group 3 Killavullan Stakes is the feature race on the Sunday card at Leopardstown and I expect the Aidan O’Brien trained Kenya to come out on top.

He was third to stable companion Flag Of Honour on debut at Naas and stepped up on that effort to romp home in a Cork maiden by eight lengths, which came on the same soft ground as today.

The bare form probably doesn’t amount to much but so many times this season we’ve seen these lightly raced sorts improve significantly on their second and third starts.

Chief market rival is stable companion Bye Bye Baby who is more experienced. She won a Newmarket maiden on her fourth start (runner-up won since) and Bye Bye Baby stepped up herself to win a Listed race at Navan last time out in good style.

Dramatically completes the O’Brien trio. She didn’t show much on debut at Dundalk but seemed to appreciate the soft ground when winning her maiden at Naas last time out. She should appreciate the extra furlong and undoubtedly looks over-priced by virtue of being the perceived outsider of the stable’s three runners.
