ELLIOTT TO STRIKE EARLY: SHAMROCK naps in the opening maiden hurdle on Sunday’s card at Navan.

A big field goes to post for the opening maiden hurdle at Navan today but it would be a big shock if it’s not won by the Gordon Elliott trained Battleoverdoyen who created a favourable impression on debut when winning the BETDAQ 1st Month Commission Back Flat Race at Punchestown last month.

He stayed on good style that day, winning by six and a half lengths, and can now make a winning debut over hurdles. He also has a point to point win to his name and changed hands for £235,000 at the sales so is clearly a nice prospect.

Despite the size of the field this might not take much winning as those with form look modest. The obvious exception being the Noel Meade trained Momus who was second to Defi Bleu (runs in today’s second race) last time out and now drops back in trip.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Battleoverdoyen (12.00 Navan)
