It’s not often (in a lifetime !!) you get the chance to shoot for 10 naps in a row so I will need to play my cards carefully.

The obvious candidate would be Faugheen in the Morgiana. But the thing that presses on my mind today, of all days, is how would I feel if the nap loses? In the case of Faugheen, I would be thinking ‘why on earth did I select a horse that has been off the track for 665 days’. He’s long odds-on and should win but if there is any rust he has two race fit quality rivals that might take advantage.

I also considered Presenting Percy (1.40) but the form of his debut win hasn’t worked out especially well and Rapid Escape (3.55) in the bumper but he has a penalty to defy which is always hard and also has a couple of interesting debutants to contend with. Josies Orders is very short in the opener but I can’t nap in a cross-country today.

Cork looks tricky so in the end I am going with Stooshie in the 3.25 at Punchestown. He’s a consistent sort who should enjoy this step-up in trip to bring about an overdue win. It doesn’t look the strongest of contests and he can continue a good weekend of form for Davy Russell who had a double at the course yesterday.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Stooshie (3.25 Punchestown)
