HARD CHOICE AT PUNCHESTOWN: SHAMROCK looks ahead to Sunday’s Punchestown card featuring the valuable Grand National Trial.
A cracking card at Punchestown this afternoon where the going remains heavy.
In the Listed novice hurdle I’m going with Hardline to get back on the winning run.
He won two races on testing ground at Wexford and Clonmel before being thrown in at the deep end for his last two races at Grade 1 level.
He was beaten around 20 lengths in both races but by no means disgraced finishing third both times – to Mengli Khan in the Royal Bond at Fairyhouse and then to the impressive Whiskey Sour in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown.
He’s clearly highly thought of and can repeat Gordon Elliott’s success in this race last year.
Riders Onthestorm has been well backed – he justified favouritism to win at Navan last time out.
