TIMED TO PERFECTION: SHAMROCK naps a Gordon Elliott trained runner in the maiden hurdle at Clonmel tonight. SHAMROCK’s latest nap won by seven lengths on the flat !

The latest nap Agent Zigzag bolted home at Killarney to win by seven lengths at 5/6.

Back over the jumps at Clonmel on Thursday and the maiden hurdle at 7.05pm doesn’t look nearly as competitive as the 18 runner field might suggest.

In fact, the Gordon Elliott trained Last Minute Man looks a good bet. He made a winning debut in a bumper at Down Royal and then made a cracking debut over hurdles when a head second to Antey at Cork. He finished 18 lengths in front of the third that day with a further 21 lengths back to the fourth.

It was therefore disappointing that he couldn’t justify odds-on favouritism most recently at Limerick when a seven and a half length runner-up to Allardyce. The winner did little to advertise the form at the Punchestown Festival and I think the defeat of Last Minute Man can just be put down to it being the most testing ground he had run on and the better conditions today will hopefully suit and he is certainly worth chancing again.

Giant Spirit is more exposed but the biggest danger. The Willie Mullins trained runner was also a beaten favourite last time out over the two mile trip here and is now 11 without a win over a variety of distances.

Of the bigger priced runners, Madison To Monroe is worth a second glance. Trainer Jessica Harrington had a treble last night at Punchestown and her runner here makes his hurdling debut after disappointing in bumpers but he is a point to point winner.
