LEOPARDSTOWN AND SLIGO DOUBLE HEADER: They race at both Leopardstown and Sligo on Thursday evening with the feature race being the GRENKE Finance Ballyroan Stakes – a Group 3 at Leopardstown at 8.05pm.
Just the four runners go to post for the featured Group 3 GRENKE Finance Ballyroan Stakes at Leopardstown this evening but it still looks a competitive betting heat.
Aidan O’Brien has won four of the last five runnings of this – last year with his second string Spanish Steps who beat the odds-on Johannes Vermeer.
He runs Yucatan this year who won a Group 3 at the Curragh last time out beating another of tonight’s rivals Stellar Mass who won this himself race back in 2016.
Stellar Mass enjoys a 3lb pull with Yucatan for a length beating so it should again be close between the pair.
Preference though is for Dermot Weld’s exciting filly Eziyra who is already a triple Group race winner and also has an Irish Oaks third to her name.
The absence of 334 days might turn into a positive as she’ll be a fresh horse against Yucatan and The King who have had busy seasons.
