SHAMROCK PULLS HIS SOCKS UP: After, in his own words, a lousy tip on Tuesday – SHAMROCK was 2 from 2 at Listowel yesterday. His NAP Eye Of The Storm WON 10/11 and place bet Muirhead was third at 12/1 in the Kerry National.
That was a bit more like it. A comfortable winning nap and a great run from Muirhead to take third in the Kerry National at 12/1.
Back to Listowel today (and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow !!)
In the 3.05 I am not sure I want to be with Muntasaf at short odds. Granted he made a very encouraging debut here 12 months ago over 7f when second on debut – just pipped a nose by Lordhighprotector (pair finished 9 1/2 lengths clear of third). That run was on heavy ground which it is expected to be again today but the major issue for me is that Muntasaf hasn’t raced since then and has been off the track for one day short than a yaer – 364 days.
It would be a great training effort to get him back and if he can reproduce that debut effort he is the likely winner but it is a big if.
Preference today must be for the race fit Deep Speed who has put in two good placed efforts at the Curragh and Cork and hopefully will be equally as effective on this ground.
