Sligo’s meeting today has been abandoned.
The track passed an initial 8.30am inspection but the threat of further rain was causing concern.
The meeting was called off shortly before midday. It doesn’t look great for tomorrow’s card either which is subject to an 8am inspection.
No such weather problems ‘Down Under’ where Ruby Walsh is set to have his first ride in Australia onboard Bashboy in the Australian Grand National at Ballarat racecourse on Sunday. Bashboy is bidding for a hat-trick in the race and Walsh replaces regular rider Steve Pateman who is ruled out through suspension.
His trainer Ciaraon Maher tweeted: “Confirmation that world class jock Ruby Walsh has been confirmed to ride Bashboy in the Grand National!”
