THE BETDAQ PUNTER returns with his usual mix of looking back on the highs and lows of his betting week on BETDAQ and looking forward to this weekend.

Our intrepid BETDAQ PUNTER has two bets in the Lions Tour and the football.

So how did his punting week and systems fare last week ?

Friday

It never rains but it pours! If you cant enjoy life as a BETDAQ punter at this time of year then there really is no hope for you at all – racing at Ascot then Newmarket, Goodwood and so on, cricket, golf, tennis, rugby, you name it we can bet on it and all from our chair (even in the garden) thanks to the BETDAQ App – happy days all round! Today saw me focus on Royal Ascot, which turned in to a punting disaster yet the racing was of such quality that I still managed a small smile. Not having the sense to lay the favourites (that would have made a small profit), I backed third placed Joyeuse at 7.8 to win, followed closely by runner up Battle Of Marengo (2.1), and third placed Just The Judge before I finally succumbed to backing a jolly and got some of my losses back via 2.4 shot Leading Light (way bigger on BETDAQ), before giving up while I wasn’t so far behind, surrendering gracefully to the BETDAQ layers.

Saturday

At this moment in time it seems fair to say that Richard Hughes is not my favourite jockey! He lost on a few I backed earlier in the week, then won easily on Sky Lantern when I left him alone, but his ride on Rosdhu Queen was a work of art as far as I could see – only abstract! I am talking through my (empty) wallet I suppose, and I can’t realistically claim she would have won, but he did take a strange and laborious route and I do wonder if she may have made the frame having backed her at 19.5 the win and 5.5 the place? Anyone who has worked out how my luck is going and realised I am/was a massive fan of Sir Henry Cecil will have guessed that I backed Noble Mission (14.0) and not 9.5 winner Sir Thomas Chippendale but to see another winner for the yard numbed the pain at least a little. Earlier in the day I did seriously consider a bet on the Lions to beat Australia but neglected to do so (not one of my better weekends), though Wimbledon starts soon and I am pretty confident I can make some cash there instead.

Sunday

It’s supposed to be my quiet day on the Sabbath but I decided to revert to old habits with my laying of the odds on shorts PLUS backing the handicap favourites (stop at a winner), so a lot busier than planned. Not a lot really went on truth be known in the odds on lays department with just the two bets seeing a winner at 1.27 and a loser at 2.0 for the tiniest of tiny profits, but four losers followed by a 3.4 winner (and increased staking accordingly), the target profit was made and enough left over for strawberries and cream ahead of the tennis!

Monday

Wimbledon. My plan for the whole week is thus – Wimbledon is played on grass, an unfamiliar surface for many of the players and one likely to see a lot of upsets. Therefore, I plan to lay every favourite in every match at short odds and see what happens – fingers crossed it works. 32 bets on the Men’s singles saw 23 favourites win yet their prices were so poor that they only set me back 4.93 points between them, and with 9 points gained from the losers, it all worked according to plan, though who knows how long that will last? The Women gave an even better return with 22 winners costing me 4.73 points in total and 10 points to me from the losers so I may be on to something – who needs the horses this week lol?

Tuesday

Well my plans to take over the World still revolve around the tennis but not the best of days today, which must be because I increased my stakes like a mug punter. The men’s made a loss though even after 27 winning favourites and only five losers, I still only lost 2.12 points at BETDAQ prices, while the women saw 9 losers and 23 winners and a profit of 2.19 for pretty much a break even day after all my hard work! As I refuse to get involved in the Under 20 World Cup, football was off the agenda and with so many tennis matches to focus on, I didn’t even get to the horses – but who cares if the BETDAQ punters are making me money?

Wednesday

This is getting monotonous so suffice to say that the men’s tennis results were 9 winners 5 losers and a profit of 2.9 points, and the women’s were 6 winners 8 losers and a profit of 5.421 points – enough said! I did find time between tennis bets to have a dabble on the horses as well with my chase the favourites in handicaps ploy. Just two bets were needed to collect my dough as Temple Lord lost the 2.40pm at Worcester but Avon Breeze won the 3.00pm at Carlisle at BETDAQ odds of 4.8 and the week went from bad to good in a matter of moments.

Thursday

Men’s Tennis +0.6points, Women’s Tennis-4.94 points, so my system fell apart a bit today though overall I am still pretty happy and will continue for the rest of the tournament though I admit it, I am kicking myself for simply laying the favourites as opposed to backing the outsiders, with a couple of 30.0 winners slipping through my fingers (v Nadal and v Federer for starters). The horses worked again eventually (though remember, handicaps only to get the better prices) when my fourth runner won at odds of 3.85 and that was more than enough for today – after all, I have a BETDAQ article to finish!

Conclusions:
Bet of the week – tennis at Wimbledon has been pretty profitable so far as has my handicap favourite chasing – long may that continue!
Disaster of the week – Royal Ascot started well (see last week) and then went slowly but unstoppably downhill – but it was fun regardless.

Something for the weekend:
Not the easiest set of sports to predict in detail this week but I will say I will be continuing with my tennis system (see above), so good luck to all of us if you decide to stick with the same ideas. I did feel that the British Lions rode their luck against Australia last weekend and at odds of 2.8 I am more than happy to risk a couple of points on the home team who look the value call, unpatriotic as that may make me.

On the footballing front, a new look Brazil seems to be slowly emerging and with the weather very much in their favour I am happy to suggest a bet on them to win the Confederations Cup on Sunday night despite some serious European competition from Spain. As some will work out, I have had to wait until late Thursday night to even know the identity of Brazil’s challengers so please forgive me that the prices are not yet available – but I am just happy to predict the winner regardless!

This week’s suggested bets (all prices with BETDAQ and correct at the time of writing):

Rugby Union Saturday
2pts Win Australia (v British Lions) at odds around 2.8

Football Sunday
2pts Win Brazil to beat Spain Confederations Cup Final
