IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Friday’s IPL game between Rajasthan Royals v Chennai Super Kings with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Rajasthan Royals v Chennai Super Kings

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have another crunch game at the IPL on Friday afternoon on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. It’s the final game at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai as Rajasthan Royals take on Chennai Super Kings. We had an absolute thriller at the IPL on Tuesday afternoon with Lucknow Super Giants scoring 210/0 and then KKR coming so close to chasing it on 208/8. KKR pretty much had the game won needing three off the final two balls (and only two for a tie) but Stoinis stepped up and took two wickets. It was incredible, especially after conceding 18 runs off the first four balls in the over. That was certainly a game we won’t forget in a hurry, but it does have a big impact on this fixture.

CSK are sitting second last so this is a meaningless game for them, but with Lucknow Super Giants winning on Tuesday this becomes a must win game for Rajasthan to get back into second place and have a much easier run to the final in the Playoffs. The good news for Rajasthan is that all they need to do is win – they don’t need to worry about net run rate because they already have a better net run rate than Lucknow Super Giants. They also don’t need to worry about falling out of the top four either, but I doubt they are thinking that – all their focus should be on winning here.

You’d have to say that they have a pretty good chance too. CSK have been very average in this IPL. Their team just hasn’t clicked together, they have suffered from some injuries, got the selection wrong in the auction and had to change captains during the tournament. They’ve won a few games but in general they have been poor. Their batting lacks an explosive star – MS Dhoni is getting on in age now and can’t carry the lower order while Moeen Ali isn’t consistent enough to lead the middle order in my view. Rajasthan can go into this one with confidence.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We have our final game at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai today and this has been the highest scoring stadium in the IPL this season. We’ve had two collapses; Punjab Kings all out for 115 which was chased down in 10.3 overs and then RCB all out for 68 in dramatic fashion. Other than those two collapses the scoring has been very high. The third lowest score is 170/6 which was RCB the game after their collapse so they were probably too cagey – that was chased down anyway. We’ve had five scores over 200 and another of 199, so the team batting first has to aim high here. I wouldn’t feel confident defending unless they had 180+ on board.

RECOMMENDED BET:

This will be a very interesting market, Rajasthan have everything to play for while CSK have nothing to play for. While you might think that will favour Rajasthan, I would be a little worried about CSK just attacking from the first ball here. With excellent batting conditions, those tactics will probably work. This is definitely a go hard or go home ground, and it rewards taking chances with the bat. I would watch out for that, but it terms of quality you have to side with Rajasthan here. Their batting has been immense, and although their bowling hasn’t been as reliable the CSK batting has been very average. I am keeping stakes small because I do expect CSK to attack, but Rajasthan can win it with their superb batting.

The Edge Says:
One point win Rajasthan Royals to beat Chennai Super Kings at 1.84 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

The first thing to look for when trading in-running here is how heavy is the dew. If we get a heavy dew, we could easily see another score of 200+ but given conditions are so difficult for the bowlers any dew we likely see a score of 175+ batting first. We have had two heavy collapses here, but other than those games it has really paid to look for trades on the batting side. I don’t fully like this CSK batting, it looks a little weak to me but they can still go well here – I would just reduce stakes. The Rajasthan bowling isn’t blockbuster either, so it works out. The best trade in-running here will be supporting the Rajasthan batters who have been in superb form, and they’ll have the conditions here to put up a big score.
