INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Monday’s IPL game between Delhi Capitals v Royal Challengers Bangalore with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

After a massive double header weekend at the Indian Premier League we’re Abu Dhabi for a huge game towards the top of the table. Mumbai Indians are now certain of topping the table, however today’s game will decide who finishes second and who could possibly fall out of the top four. It’s been an incredible season, and it’s actually incredible to think you win here and you’re second while you lose and you could be out!

It’s unlikely that the loser drops out of the Playoff places; but it’s possible because Sunrisers Hyderabad play tomorrow and their net run rate is better than both of these sides. Whatever happens, you’d imagine both will try to avoid a heavy defeat. They would have been thankful to see Punjab lose to CSK as that would have been a major worry with Punjab also having a better net run rate (should they have won!)

The benefits of second are obvious; two bites of the playoff cherry and looking at their recent form, they might need it! Delhi have been very poor in their recent games. They arrive here having lost three in a row and they have been heavy defeats too. Their batting has fallen apart, but that’s come from the pressure of chasing scores too high after their bowling has been poor. RCB have also lost their last three and their problem remains the same – if Kohli and de Villiers don’t perform then they don’t win.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Since Narine went crazy for KKR here against Delhi, the chasing side has won. We’ve had some big chases too; 195/5, 164/6, 185/4 and 153/6 have all been successfully chased. That last score was a day game at the weekend however, but it looks like chasing has been good recently. Ben Stokes played a superb innings to chase 195/5, but it looks like you wouldn’t be comfortable defending anything under 190 at the moment. With both these sides struggling with the bat, perhaps scores will come down today. I would certainly bowl first. Thankfully the weather is set fair.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Personally I think this is a game to keep the stakes reasonably low. Both sides are struggling at the moment, but I feel RCB will come out on top today. The last three Delhi performances have been very bad, and I can’t see them turning that around quickly. They started the tournament with all their batsmen in form, and now they have all seemingly dropped out of form together! Their bowlers have done pretty much the same, and now they look a bowler or two short. I take on board RCB have their issues too, but Kohli and de Villers should have a good platform to win the game for RCB today.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Looking at this game, I think it could be an excellent game for traders on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, but it’s also a very dangerous game. Both sides have been poor with the bat recently, and I wouldn’t want to support either batting side for long. I would be happier on RCB batting at the moment compared to Delhi, but that isn’t saying much.

For me this game will be all about picking good spots to get on the bowling team. Delhi have been worth taking on when facing the new ball recently and that can offer some value again. I would be happy to support Kohli and de Villiers, but their RCB tail is very weak after they are gone. We could really see some in-running carnage here, especially with the pressure on towards the end of the tournament.
