ENGLAND v PAKISTAN: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Saturday’s 2nd ODI between ENGLAND v PAKISTAN with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We move to Lord’s for the 2nd ODI on Saturday, but we’ve already had enough drama to fill an entire series! As this match falls on a Saturday, all cricket bets are 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange which is excellent. England came in for some very unjustified criticism during the Sri Lanka series as it was so one sided. You can only beat what’s in front of you after all. Then the whole England squad was ruled out because of Covid19 we thought this is going to be a very close and competitive series, but England blew Pakistan away as they bowled them out for 141!

Pakistan found themselves 0/2 after three balls. The market movements were crazy. England were 1.4 before the new broke about the squad, they started the game around 2.2 and then after less than four overs they were back to 1.4! England are a shade of odds on now as they trade 1.9, and we should have another drama filled game. Although Saqib Mahmood blew Pakistan away, we can’t forget that this side isn’t even the England reserves – they are a collection of County Cricketers plus Ben Stokes.

Pakistan had to come into the 1st ODI without much action because of Covid, in ordinary times they would stop and play Ireland or Scotland – but they should have benefited from the 1st game even though they collapsed. They are a classy side, and although they have their crazy batting moments, they have to beat this under strength England side.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Looking at the forecast, we will have some weather worries for this ODI. It’s definitely one to keep checking the radar pre-game and in-play. Remarkably, although possibly not with Covid, the last ODI we had at Lord’s was the World Cup Final when England famously won in the Super Over. Ben Stokes was the hero that day, and you’d assume he’ll have to play another massive role today. With overhead conditions looking bad, it’s a day to get on the bowlers – you always want to be with the bowling side when it’s cloudy at Lord’s. We could see another low score here.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Although Pakistan were blown away in the 1st ODI, I feel they are worth backing here at 2.08. Obviously England were very impressive on Thursday, but on paper this Pakistan side is levels above and if they can get their batting together then they should win. Their bowlers should enjoy the conditions, but I would expect both bowling units to be on top. The longer Pakistan are in action in England the better, it would have been tough to come from the UAE and the Pakistan Super League to these conditions, but I expect them to bounce back here and I’d have them odds on.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I was looking forward to seeing the 1st ODI as I thought we could make some plans for the future. However, I don’t think we learned much. Pakistan can always collapse from anywhere, but we knew that before the game. The obvious in-running trade was to get on the team bowling first at Cardiff and sure enough that paid off handsomely. Here, I will be looking up for the weather rather than looking down at the pitch. I want to be on the bowling side when it’s cloudy, and with the forecast looking dodgy we should get plenty of opportunity. I’d also be keen to take on this England batting, as they look pretty weak on paper.
