INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the two games on Sunday: Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians v Delhi Capitals both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Sunrisers Hyderabad v Rajasthan Royals

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We kick off the second day of our weekend double header with Sunrisers Hyderabad taking Rajasthan Royals in Dubai. We have a quick turnaround here as CSK played RCB last night, and so far Dubai has produced a very good wicket which has made for some excellent matches. We have possibly seen the first signs of pitches slowing down with Rajasthan Royals game in Sharjah on Friday, and with this being a day game it could be a little tougher than usual to bat.

Rajasthan Royals find themselves towards the bottom of the table with only two wins from six games – with those two wins coming in their opening two games. They’ve had a lot of issues since, and while they changed up their bowling on Friday against Delhi – it didn’t help their batting! They ended up 138 all out at Sharjah; while that’s a shocking innings, the pitch was a little tougher than it has been at the start of the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have also had their issues, and they’ve lost their star bowler. But they have enough quality in their side to beat Rajasthan. The games are coming up thick and fast, and there’s no easy fix for Rajasthan. They need Buttler and Smith to fire, but at the same time they can’t do everything themselves.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

This will be the first day game at Dubai, so I wouldn’t be married to a solid view at the pitch before we start. Batting has been easier than expected and the scores have been well over what you would have expected at the start of the tournament – but I think we can drop down perhaps 10 to 15 runs for a day game. There will be no dew so things will be easier for the bowlers, and the wicket might be a little sluggish. I’d be surprised if we saw 200+, however Rajasthan have bowled poorly at times. I would suggest you would want to win the toss and bat first, and aim for 165-170 if possible. That will be a tough chase. Once again, we’re set fair with the weather.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We landed our bet against Rajasthan on Friday without much worry, and I feel we can land another one here. Rajasthan have so many issues at the moment it’s hard to see an easy fix that can happen in days. Unless Buttler or Smith play a wonderful innings, I can’t see their batting matching Hyderabad and with Hyderabad coming into form I’m happy to be on them at 1.83.

The Edge Says:
Two points win Sunrisers Hyderabad to beat Rajasthan Royals at 1.83 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

So far the in-running strategy at Dubai has been to mainly look for trades on the batting team in the first innings. I would suggest that similar tactics could work here, even allowing for the change in conditions because it’s a day game. The sweet spot might not be the final five overs of the first innings anymore with the lack of dew, however that in turn will make it tougher to chase.

Hyderabad put up a very solid performance last time out here against Kings XI Punjab, however the Kings XI bowling has been poor in general. That being said, Rajasthan aren’t much better so I would expect the Hyderabad batters to go well again. The middle to low order of Rajasthan have been woeful; and I would look to be against them again once Smith goes.

Mumbai Indians v Delhi Capitals

MATCH OVERVIEW:

What a way to finish the week and another superb double header weekend in the Indian Premier League! We have a top of the table clash between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals! Mumbai lost their opening game here to CSK, but since then they have made this a fortress. They’ve won their last three games here and they’ve racked up scores of 195/5, 191/4 and 193/4. They’ve won every game by big margins, as you would expect with a score of 190+ in Abu Dhabi.

Delhi Capitals come here with the best record in the tournament after six games – they’ve only lost once and look to have a very well balanced side. Their batters are in good form and their bowling is rock solid. Dhawan is probably the only batter under-performing at the moment. They will be a very good test for this Mumbai side who have been very impressive in recent games. They had a bad start, but have won every game since apart from losing a Super Over against RCB. They performed with credit that day too though, as they tied the game chasing 201 in Dubai. It’s hard to see anything but a very close game here between two very strong sides.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We had a day game here yesterday, but I wouldn’t read too much into that. Conditions will be different tonight, and we can expect a dew too – what level of dew we get you will have to keep an eye on how many rags, and how often, the players are using. Mumbai have put up some incredible scores here – usually the scores you see in ODI’s! I don’t think the team batting first needs 190+, indeed I think 160 would be a tricky chase. Perhaps a good score to aim for would be 170. Once again I’m happy to report the weather is set fair.

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s very difficult to commit to a pre-off bet here, and I would keep stakes to a minimum before we go in-play. I can’t see anything other than a very close game here – and I would have the odds at 50/50. For that reason I’m happy to have a small bet on Delhi at 2.08. I fully take on board that Mumbai have been very impressive, but Delhi have been too and they have some excellent bowlers that can trouble the Mumbai Indians batsmen. Before the start, I’m happy to have a small wager – but I would be very happy to be on the team batting first here.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As noted above, I would be very keen to be on the team batting first as they can make use of the best batting conditions. Of course, keep an eye out for dew as that will change how they game goes. While you should always base your opinion on the conditions presented, the scores here have been unusually high – and I would be looking out for when the pitch starts to go back to “normal” IE tough for batting!

Both sides have some excellent power hitters, and if we get dew it could be worth placing a trade on them. Pollard has been excellent for Mumbai and Stoinis has moved markets when batting for Delhi. I would suggest Delhi’s bowling is a little better than Mumbai’s – so it’ll be interesting to see does that play out in the game. Rabada can go well early and could be worth supporting.
