INDIA v WEST INDIES: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the 1st ODI between India v West Indies with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s only been a week break in the International men’s cricket calendar, but it feels like forever given how jam packed the calendar usually is. We get back into the action on Sunday on 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as West Indies start their tour of India. There’s already been plenty of drama off the pitch in the build-up to this series. We’re having the ODI section of the tour behind closed doors because of Covid19 reasons, however Dhawan, Iyer, Gaikwad and Saini have all tested positive already for India. Not only that, but I’m sure the IPL auction will be a distraction for some players. They all say it won’t, but the money involved is life changing for some of the younger players.

West Indies players will also be heavily involved in the IPL given their power hitting. They’ve had a very busy schedule coming into this tour given they have just played Ireland and England at home. They lost an ODI series to Ireland 2-1, which probably shows they aren’t the force of old but they bounced back fantastically in the T20 series against England. T20 was always better suited to the West Indies tactics however and it will be interesting to see how they fare here given India will be without some of their first choice players with Covid19.

You get the feeling this first ODI is a must win game for the West Indies. With the positive Covid19 cases in the India camp, this is their chance. If they lose they could easily be looking at a 3-0 series whitewash.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

All three ODI’s will be played behind closed doors in Ahmedadbad, which unfortunately is the worlds largest cricket stadium. It’s a shame we can’t have fans, but at least we can have 75% attendance for the T20 section of the tour. This stadium is still relatively new given we haven’t seen a huge amount of cricket in India since Covid19, and I would go into the ODI’s with an open mind. Dew can play a heavy part in the T20’s where we have saw high scores and turning pitches. We have had some Tests here where it looked close to impossible to bat too.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I know India have some Covid19 worries with players missing, but the market has moved them out to 1.34 and I feel that’s too big. West Indies are a poor ODI side in my opinion, and their series loss with home advantage to Ireland recently highlights that. Their focus is usually the T20 and given a lot of their players will be looking for an IPL contract their focus is going to be the T20 series on this tour. I’m keen to keep stakes small given it’s the first game of the series and I want to see how conditions are for this game too. We might have a lot better angles going into the rest of the series compared to the 1st ODI but India are too big for me at 1.34. Even with their issues, they are a much better side than West Indies.

The Edge Says:
One point win India to beat West Indies at 1.34 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

A lot of the in-running strategy will revolve around the batting conditions, and I’d be keen to see what they turn out like here before forming a full plan for in-running. This is very much a game where you react to the play on-field, because India will have to name a different XI compared to their usual given the positive Covid19 cases in the camp. West Indies went nowhere against spin when they played Ireland, especially in the middle order and I’d be very keen to take them on if we saw spinning conditions. India will be without KL Rahul here too, and given the positive Covid19 cases will miss the whole ODI series, it’s wise to see how this one plays out and we can find better edges going forward. I feel the best angle you’ll have here is taking on the West Indies middle order against spin.
