THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Sunday’s Hundred format match between Oval Invincibles v Southern Brave with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
It’s been a massive double header weekend at The Hundred, and we finish it off on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with Oval Invincibles taking on Southern Brave. It’s been a good start to the tournament for the London sides – London Spirit made it three from three on Friday night against Southern Brave meaning they slipped down the table. It’s still early days, but another loss here for Southern Brave would see them one from four and towards the bottom of the table then. So, the pressure is on. Oval Invincibles started off with a close loss against London Spirit but they have bounced back nicely with back-to-back wins against Welsh Fire and Northern Superchargers. The only thing you would say is Welsh Fire look like the weakest side in the tournament so far.
It’s a good thing Oval Invincibles have a cracking middle order in good form, because they keep getting off to bad starts. They found themselves 5/2 chasing 157/7 from Northern Superchargers and that followed on from being 22/2 after 20 balls and then 12/4 in their opening game! As we all know, it won’t take long for Jason Roy to burst back into form but at the moment he is struggling – he’s record two ducks and just ten runs in the three games. Southern Brave will see that as a great angle into starting the game on the front foot and it will be up to Roy to deal with that. I have to say I do like the look of the Oval Invincibles XI – it looks very well balanced and to have such a high profile player like Roy fail and still be in a nice position after three games says a lot about the quality of the squad.
Southern Brave would have been very disappointed to not chase down 147/6 from London Spirit on Friday night, but they suffered from early wickets in the chase themselves and their squad just isn’t strong enough ig James Vince and Quinton de Kock fail. A fascinating game lies ahead – likely to be decided by the new ball bowling!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
It’s been a very busy weekend all around the UK, and we land at The Oval today. Runs usually come very quickly at The Oval in general, and we’ve had two reasonably high scoring games here already this season. We saw a first inning score of 171/6 and that was nearly chased too – then 157/7 was chased down on Thursday. I wouldn’t be surprised to see another score getting up towards 170, and you’d have to fancy anyone to chase down 160 or so again. That means the pressure is on the side batting first for a high score, and I would definitely favour a high scoring game here.
We have a very even market here, and you’d assume we’ll see the teams flip flop as favourites plenty of times in-running. As I said above, both sides have struggled at the top of the order but I feel Oval Invincibles can shade things here. Their middle order is in exceptional form, and if Roy can swing his way back into form then they are really in the driving seat. I know Southern Brave are a fantastic side, they are champions after all, but for me Oval Invincibles just shade things with their middle order. I’m happy to keep stakes small here pre-off because it’s hard to see anything bar a close game to be honest.
The Edge Says:
One point win Oval Invincibles to beat Southern Brave at 1.88 with Betdaq Exchange.

There’s a couple of points to go over again here from a trading point of view. I do believe we’ll see very good batting conditions here, so it’s going to pay to look for trades on the batting side in both innings – I wouldn’t stay on the bowling side for long, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a high score in the first innings either. As I highlighted, both sides are struggling at the top of the order but if you decide to take them on you are taking on the highest quality of batters in Jason Roy and Quinton de Kock – for me they haven’t been out of form long enough to justify taking them on yet as we’re still early in the tournament – their heads don’t look fried and in need of a rest for example. Perhaps stay out of the market early, and then support the two middle orders – especially Oval Invincibles as they look very strong.
