ENGLAND v SRI LANKA: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Thursday’s second T20 between ENGLAND v SRI LANKA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We’re back in Cardiff on Thursday evening for the 2nd T20. Sri Lanka desperately need to find some form quickly as they were hammered by England here yesterday, and England have moved into a very short on price on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. They are trading 1.16 at the moment and you usually only see prices like that when the minnows are involved. The problem for Sri Lanka at the moment is after losing so much talent in their squad recently, they are very close to a minnow. Afghanistan are still only viewed as a new Test nation, but they would give England a better game at the moment.

I felt Sri Lanka’s best chance was to bat first and take advantage of England’s weakness in their bowling department but they could only manage 129/7 yesterday. England do have a decent bowling line-up in fairness, but their batting is definitely their strong point and if Sri Lanka were to compete in this series then they’d have to at least match them with the bat. I feel after seeing yesterday’s game that’s unlikely to happen, and you’d have to suggest England will whitewash them on the whole tour. I’d be interested to see what England could score batting first, and hopefully that happens today.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We have had some showers around recently, but we should get a game in here. The pitch looked good yesterday, had a bit of pace and bounce – you’d probably call it an ideal T20 wicket really. I feel if England batted first you’d see a very different score to Sri Lanka’s 129/7. England chased it down in 17 overs and were aiming for that target, you’d feel they would be good for 170/180 on this wicket if they batted first. With such a quick turnaround and the wicket is Cardiff sometimes having a bit of turn, I’d watch out for spin today however it’s unlikely we see any major turn.

RECOMMENDED BET:

With England so short in the match odds market, we’ll have to look at the side markets here. England should win and at 1.16 they are worth putting in any BETDAQ Multiple today. Jos Buttler finished not out yesterday on 68 yesterday and he looked in superb touch. I like a small bet on him to be Top England Batsman at 3.25. You have the added advantage that if Sri Lanka bat first, England will be chasing a low score and he will have a massive edge then opening the batting. If England bat first, he can make best use of the Powerplay too so there’s a lot of ways Buttler can win here.

The Edge Says:
One point win Jose Buttler Top England Batsman at 3.25 with BETDAQ Betting Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Yesterday I felt Sri Lanka’s only way to win or make this a close game was to bat first and put up a big score. They failed to do that in a big way. England bowled well so credit to them, but their bowling is definitely weaker than their batting so I’m not sure what Sri Lanka do from here. I feel the only way Sri Lanka get into the game so we see England trade above 1.7 is if England start collapsing and losing wickets. And even then, you’d have to feel that 150 might be enough for England too looking at this Sri Lankan batting. It’s going to be a very long tour for them, and we must see an improved performance before we see any major in-running angles to trade Sri Lanka. England all the way again for me.
