ENGLAND v PAKISTAN: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s 3rd ODI between ENGLAND v PAKISTAN with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

After all the drama before the series with England losing their whole squad with Covid isolation, the “second-XI” England side have already won the series! I have to say it’s been very impressive, because you would hardly call this the “second-XI” it’s more like the “fourth-XI!” Pakistan again fell way short again with the bat on Saturday, ending up all out for 195 chasing England’s 247 all out. There’s no doubt the ball has had the edge over the bat so far this series, and we should see more dramatic in-running swings on 0% Commission on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as the sides move to Edgbaston.

Pakistan simply need to improve with the bat. They’ve had two innings now, batting first and second, and both times failed to get over 200. That’s unacceptable for a big side, however we know they always have collapses in their locker. They won’t be unhappy with their bowling, although it can improve. They had England 21/2 and then it was 118/2 before they lost the next wicket. Even when you think they had England 160/7 after that it was a big slip-up to conceded 247. Perhaps that’s England’s tail for you – they always bat way down the order, even when it’s not their strongest side.

We should have another excellent game here. The English conditions always give England the edge over sides like Pakistan, but you can see that England are there for the beating – it’s just are Pakistan good enough with the bat?

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The weather is forecast to improve, and they will be very welcome for Pakistan. They should enjoy conditions at Edgbaston more so than Lord’s and Cardiff so you’d have to say, on paper, this is an excellent chance for Pakistan. However, this England squad has confidence now after the last two games! I wouldn’t look at average scores here given the situation – take conditions at face value when you see the opening overs. You’d have to expect another reasonably low score given both sides look light in the batting department. However, you can see Edgbaston offering the highest score of the series so far – which granted, shouldn’t be difficult.

RECOMMENDED BET:

So far I have been wrong twice when backing Pakistan, but I’m happy to have another small bet on them today at 2.2. That price simply looks too big heading into this game where Pakistan should be able to bat a bit better here. Of course, they will need to given how bad they have been. I’m a big fan of the Pakistan bowling line-up and you can see that in the 2nd ODI. They had the game “won,” but let England have too many runs with the bowlers tail hitting. Brydon Carse scored 31 which is a big credit to him – but Pakistan had England 160/7 and it could have been so different if they took his wicket earlier. I’m happy to stick with Pakistan as I see this game being another coin-flip and the 2.2 offers value.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Based on what we’ve saw so far in this series, you definitely want to be supporting the bowling side. I expect batting conditions to be good here, but I still don’t want to have a large stake on either side when batting. Pakistan have been very poor considering it’s their strong side, while you can forgive England – most of their players wouldn’t get into the side in normal circumstances. That makes the in-running strategy slightly easy, as there isn’t much point looking past the obvious strategy of supporting the bowling side.
