IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s IPL game between Lucknow Super Giants v Royal Challengers Bangalore with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Lucknow Super Giants v Royal Challengers Bangalore

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We’re back at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday as Lucknow Super Giants take on Royal Challengers Bangalore! We had an absolute thriller at the IPL yesterday on BETDAQ Betting Exchange, and hopefully that’s a sign of things to come this week. I felt that game was huge yesterday for both sides when you look at the Playoff places, and both the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore would have preferred a KKR win because Rajasthan jumped over them into second and they have also played one less game.

Nevertheless, both these sides are in a good position. It’s actually very interesting to see the two new sides to the IPL this season sitting in first and third in the table. They look to have put a lot of thought into the auction and their sides look very well balanced. You couldn’t say the same about RCB because they rely on their big stars to deliver and have to carry a few players, but they have been winning to their credit. I’m not a fan of their bowling as on paper it looks very average, but they have been getting the job done and you can’t knock that – winning games tends to make all the worries go away!

Both sides have an identical record with four wins and two losses from six games. The stars are firing for RCB this season as du Plessis, Kohli, Maxwell and Karthik have all chipped in. I have to say Karthik coming in late is a huge positive for RCB and that has really added a calmness to their lower order who usually collapse. Josh Hazlewood coming in will really help their bowling attack too – they were probably counting down the days for that Australian tour of Pakistan to finish! Lucknow are a very solid side though, and this will be a very strong test for RCB.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Yesterday the high scoring continued at the Brabourne Stadium and to be honest that was easy to see coming – that ground has been the most consistent. You couldn’t say that about the DY Patil Stadium though as we have had a range of scores. We’ve had 205/2 chased down, 128 all out and then the high score was 216/4. Punjab could only score 151 here at the weekend, but it was chased down pretty easily. The best advice you’ll get here to go into the game with an open mind – there range of scores has been too big here to form a set opinion. If I had to set a target for the team batting first, it would be 175/180.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We should have another very close game here. I’m a big fan of Lucknow Super Giants – their side just looks very solid. They have good openers, a good middle to lower order and their bowling is pretty decent too. However, with Maxwell and Hazlewood looking in great form I feel that RCB can get the win here. Having Maxwell in the middle order is such a huge boost for RCB – they have du Plessis and Kohli up top and then Karthik to guide them home early. Hazlewood in for Willey in a huge positive. I know Lucknow are a very good side too, so I will be keeping my stakes small here, but RCB have a nice looking XI for this ground and I think conditions favour them today.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

As I said above, I feel it’s important to go into this game with an open mind because of the range of scores we have had here. That’s made it difficult to have a set in-running strategy here, especially when you compare it to yesterday at the Brabourne Stadium where we could expect runs and look for trades on the batting side. Yesterday’s game was pretty much textbook, and then you don’t want to go chasing trades that aren’t there in difficult games when you have edges in others. I do like the RCB batting here though – I think they have an ideal batting line-up as they can score if conditions are tough and tee off if conditions are good, plus their bowling should do OK as well. I feel the best edge here will be supporting the RCB batting against the Lucknow bowling, and I would stay out of the market while Lucknow are batting.
