INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Tuesday’s IPL final between Mumbai Indians v Delhi Capitals with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

Because we see so much action in-running on cricket, he will also provide some in-running strategies that could develop in-play and lead to some excellent value bets. The Edge covers all forms of cricket: Test Matches, ODI’s and T20’s but his favourite competition is the Indian Premier League each season.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

And then there were two. After 59 games of immense action at the Indian Premier League, it comes down to Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in the final on Tuesday. Dubai will host, which is excellent because it’s been the best ground of the tournament. This might feel a little like déjà vu as these two met in Qualifier 1 here last Thursday with Mumbai running out easy winners by 57 runs.

Delhi have a huge task ahead of them. The sides have played three times throughout the IPL season and Mumbai have looked well on top in all three games. Perhaps this is the time for Delhi to come good, but it looks like Mumbai have their number! Ricky Ponting would have been pleased to see the Delhi batters return to come decent form in Qualifier 2 on Sunday; they scored 189/3 and Dhawan lead the way. They will need more of the same from him here.

For Mumbai, it really looks like they have no weaknesses at the moment. Their batting in firing, their bowling is performing well and even when they get into trouble, they have the best tail in the tournament. Hardik Pandya was able to fire them to 200 when scoring 37 off 14 balls. They have Pollard and Krunal Pandya, along with Coulter-Nile who can hit a few sixes too. They look extremely strong, and it’s hard to see past them to be honest.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We haven’t had a single weather issue for the whole tournament, and thankfully that looks set to continue for the final! Mumbai scored 200/5 in the most recent game here against Delhi. That’s certainly on the high end, but I wouldn’t rule it out again if Mumbai bat first. A par score looks to be around 180. KKR scored 191/7 and prior to that Mumbai kept Delhi down to 110/9. These two will know each other very well and know conditions very well too having met twice here recently. I would bat first if I won the toss.

RECOMMENDED BET:

I can’t see past Mumbai here. They have looked stronger than Delhi at every point. Even at the mid-point of the tournament when Delhi were playing their best cricket, Mumbai were able to chase down Delhi’s 162/4 at Abu Dhabi with Rohit Sharma scoring only 5 runs. Mumbai have looked excellent in the two recent fixtures here too – scoring 200 when the batted against Delhi and keeping them down to 110 when the bowled. We saw some promise from Delhi at the weekend, but they’ll have to improve a lot to beat this Mumbai side.

The Edge Says:

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

With this being the final, there’s going to be a lot of trading opportunities on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We could easily see a number of overreactions. I would be very keen getting on Mumbai if they were to bat first. They should make best use of conditions and the Delhi bowling hasn’t been great lately. Even when the batters fired on Sunday, they still conceded 172/8. Mumbai are a much better side than Hyderabad too, with stronger bowlers.

For me Delhi look a bowler short and have done for a number of weeks. I would be keen to be against their bowling. I would also been keen to be against their middle order once Dhawan has gone – Mumbai steamrolled them here recent and we could easily see the same thing happen again if Delhi lose early wickets. The Mumbai tail has been very impressive too, and if Mumbai lost early wickets I would be keen to support the tail – they have plenty to six hitters to move the market. We’re all set for an excellent final and hopefully we can finish on a high after what has been a fantastic tournament.
