SYDNEY SIXERS v ADELAIDE STRIKERS: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews the Big Bash Challenger game on Wednesday with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

It’s Big Bash Challenger time on Wednesday morning and we have a cracking game to look forward to on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! . The Adelaide Strikers finished the Group stage in superb form and they have rode that good momentum into the Playoffs to beat Hobart Hurricanes and then Sydney Thunder. Those two games were knockout games with intense pressure and they have batted and bowled superbly – the Sydney Sixers come into this game off the back of a loss to Perth Scorchers in the Qualifier, but you have to remember how good Perth Scorchers have been this season.

It has been nice to land two bets on Adelaide Strikers already in the Playoffs, however this is their biggest test to date. They have had good conditions, good momentum and the games worked out well for them. They got to play Hobart after they conceded a record score to Melbourne Stars and were low on confidence and then they got to bat first against Sydney Thunder at the MCG and as I said, batting first offered a slight edge.

The Sydney Sixers haven’t looked as strong this season as the last two, but you can’t knock them. They suffered with Covid19 issues given how good their “team” was in the sense that they have no real star player but just work together so well as a team. When missing players, that was always going to have a big impact. Despite all that, they will fancy bouncing back to winning ways here. Whatever way you look at this, we should have a cracking game!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’ve had five games at the SCG this season given they hosted an Ashes Test match and it’s been a reasonably high scoring ground. We saw two scores of 213 here early in the season, and recently we saw the Sixers score 197/4 in the Sydney Derby. The sides actually met here this season and Adelaide Strikers could only manage 147/8 but apart from Brisbane Heat collapsing it has looked good for batting. Much like the other playoff games at the MCG, I don’t think there’s a question here what you do at the toss – you bat.

RECOMMENDED BET:

We have a fascinating market here. I’m expecting a very close game, and I was surprised to see Adelaide Strikers as favourites. Punters are obviously happy to ride the momentum and they have looked very strong. However, as I mentioned above their two playoff games have pretty much gone exactly to plan. They met a soft Hobart Hurricanes side and got to bat first against Sydney Thunder. I know the Sixers haven’t been as good this season, but they are still a top class side who perform under pressure. I would have them as the favourites rather than the Strikers, and feel the value is certainly with the Sixers.

The Edge Says:
Two points win Sydney Sixers to beat Adelaide Strikers at 2.08 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Getting on the side batting first at the MCG has worked very well for us so far in the playoffs, and I believe it can work well again here. We have two sides who look very good with the bat, and I’d be happy supporting either. It’s going to be a close game, so close that the toss might actually decide it as whoever gets to bat first should have a little edge. Despite me feeling that the Sixers offer the value from a pre-off point of view, the openers for the Strikers have been in superb form lately and I would be happy opening a trade when they start batting. The market should move quickly, and Cockbain played a superb knock at number 3 against the Thunder too. The Sixers batting just didn’t fire against Perth Scorchers, but they face slightly easier bowling here as Perth are so good, so I expect them to bat well and their mid-to-low order is very much worth supporting.
