BIG BASH: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s Big Bash game between Melbourne Renegades v Melbourne Stars with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a big another Melbourne Derby in the Big Bash on Wednesday morning as the Stars push for a place in the Playoffs. Unfortunately for the Renegades, they have nothing to play for but obviously there’s a lot of pride at stake in a derby. Because of Covid19, we actually had this fixture very recently as the sides faced each other at the weekend at the MCG which saw an easy win for the Stars.

The Stars started off slowly but they are right in the mix for the Playoffs and perhaps this season will be different for them when they get there. Last season they were very impressive in the group stage, but collapsed under the pressure of the Playoffs. Maybe with them having to fight for their Playoff spot they can attack the knockouts without fear.

There’s only been one team in Melbourne this season as the Renegades have been woeful. They are completely detached at the bottom of the table and the only team not in the mix for the Playoffs. What can you call their season only a complete failure. They had been talked up before the tournament as a strong side with the services of Finch four the whole tournament and Shaun Marsh. The Stars got Finch out for a duck on Sunday and he continues to be in poor form. It’s hard to see how the Renegades can turn things around, and the Stars really have to take advantage and win this game to push for a Playoff spot.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We had the first game of the tournament here yesterday with the Perth Scorchers setting 174/5. Brisbane Heat were all out for 115 in reply. 174 was a decent score considering the average score was 167 here last season. I’d want to bat first if I won the toss, and it’s hard to see conditions changing that much between yesterday and today so I’d expect a similar type of game, although the chasing team will be hoping to do better than Brisbane Heat!

RECOMMENDED BET:

The Stars hammered the Renegades not long ago and although we move grounds it’s hard to see much changing. This is the Renegades home ground; however there hasn’t been a big home advantage this season with Covid19. They haven’t even experienced conditions here yet. It was only on Sunday that the Renegades were all out for 150 against the Stars, and it’s hard to see how the Renegades turn their season around. They have been woeful, and Finch or Marsh aren’t going anything to win games either. This should be one way traffic for the Stars in my opinion.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

I’m hope I’m wrong but I don’t think we’ll see a lot of in-running drama on BETDAQ Betting Exchange in this one. The Renegades have been so poor it’s hard to see them trading odds on. Finch and Marsh haven’t been playing well enough to get them off to good starts, their middle order has been woeful and their bowling has been poor. I’m be very keen to take them on when batting given Finch and Marsh would be worth plenty of ticks, and I can’t see their middle order getting them back into the game.

If the Stars bat first I can see a very similar score to yesterday here with 175 or more expected. The renegades bowling has been very poor. The focus has been on their batting but they have conceded plenty of runs and suffered some heavy defeats this season, and you don’t do that with poor bowling.
